Chapter Text
This is what I'd had written for the start of chapter 22 (Bakugou POV):
He would never say it out loud. He could barely even think it to himself—only in the darkest moments of the night, when it seemed like the sun might never rise again, would Bakugou admit it.
He was burnt out.
Like his quirk had turned against him. Like it had exploded his insides. And how he was just left hollow. His life was a moment of that bright flash of excitement, of power, of that thrill. And then it was over.
Burnt out.
But that was only in those brief moments. Other than that Bakugou was perfect. At his prime. He was ready to take on the world and beat those villains.
Getting ready to head to HQ, Bakugou was prepared. Those villains didn’t stand a chance, once Bakugou knew exactly what they were planning. He had a hunch, nothing more than an instinct, but he couldn’t convince anyone else to act on his instincts. Also, instincts didn’t tell him what building and what time. So no matter how ready he was—which was extremely—he had to wait.
The walk that day felt extra long.
Chapter 22 remaining outline:
- Hatsume (H) and Momo (Y) looking over plans for what villains stole
- They realize it has potential to combine into something to steal quirks on a wide scale—and give them to someone
- Because they didn’t get One for All (OFA), they needed two more parts
- I think there was supposed to be specific circumstances to set off this machine I don’t remember exactly
- Bakugou (B), Midoriya (D), and All Might (AM) exchange looks
- Because they know taking/giving quirks is realistic etc
- The others separate to train/rest, but the 3 of them linger
- B wants to tell the others (mostly just Kirishima (K))
- D and AM think now is not hte time
- They are about to leave but AM comes back
- “It’s important to remember why” they are being heroes (being a symbol takes a toll)
- B and K chat
- Vague words, could be about OFA secret or romantic feelings
- “Soon. Now’s not a good time.” precipice
- Next day whole team goes to meet
- They decide there isn’t much more to do—they figure out when/where
- (e.g. lunar position/weather condition. Tall building/specific building?)
- H comes over and is like “well at least u have new gear!” (gives them new, fancier hero costumes. Better masks LOL)
- ARTICLE: Ashido (A)
- Something very casual about a shopping haul or something (or maybe not… fast fashion bad…)
- Generally, a tonal shift from the rest of the chapter.
Chapter 23 outline (K POV):
- The villains attack is coming that night.
- K is packing up to go to B’s before going to HQ
- Kaminari (Km) and Jirou (J) are also getting ready
- They are all nervous, talking like “well, it’s not like this’ll be the last time..” even though it might. Basically: they are scared.
- K opens the door and there are A and Sero (S)
- “Hi guys. I was just heading out” -K
- “No. We need to talk to all three of you” A and S
- A and S can tell something bad is coming (“we aren’t stupid. We know you are vigilantes”)
- A and S ask the 3 of them not to go because
- It’s illegal
- It’s not their job
- Just be safe
- (Delivery a bit harsh)
- K, J, and Km appreciate that they care, but they are going to do it
- Km: you’re not saying anything that we haven’t already thought 100 times
- But we care about the city, etc
- They aren’t TRYING to get hurt
- K goes to leave
- A pulls his sleeve “you’re my oldest friend. Be careful.”
- Something something about bravery
- K meets B and grabs his gear from his place
- K: we can do this right?
- B: idk why you would doubt us
- K: haha… yeah
- They meet up to coordinate w the rest of the vigilante team
- They have to fight villains based on quirks
- D will take on Shigaraki (Sh)
- B will fight Kurogiri (Ku)
- The rest will fight as they come (not sure about villains’ complete roster)
- As the sun sets: it’s time to go (also… cloudy sky?)
- There’s mostly silence as they’re heading out
- They get close and K feels nervous
- K decides it’s best to tell B about his feelings now before things get too dangerous/potential death
- At the back of the group he pulls B aside
- K: i know we will make it, but just in case we don’t I—
- B: don’t
- (K like oh man he hates me/does not feel the same way)
- B: tell me when we both make it out of here alive
- K understands (idk, emotions)
- Dabi (Db) is out front
- D and B both go ahead to fight their villains
- Todoroki (T) is the one to stay and fight Db (for fire/ice power reasons, brother reveal to come)
Okay, the rest of this will be less detailed/general outline of what I had planned.
Chapter 24 (B POV)
- B fights Ku
- Plus some glimpses of others (since they are kinda going everywhere due to warp etc)
- Most importantly some glimpses of D fighting Sh
Chapter 25 (K POV)
- K and the others (Km, Y, and J) go inside to find/take care of the other villains
- Thanks to J they find out there are 2 villains on one floor and one on another (not including Sh and Ku obvs)
- J and Km go to the higher level to defeat the 2 villains
- K and Y stay on the lower floor to fight Spinner
- They defeat him
- K goes back to help T fight Db
- Y goes up to help J and Km fight (They are fighting Toga and Twice)
- K goes outside to help T and accidentally stumbles into a whole lot of family drama (not sure of the exact backstory due to quirks being different here but… whatever)
- Together they defeat Db (hope of brotherly reconciliation? idk!)
- K worried about B
Chapter 26 (B POV)
- B keeps fighting Ku (maybe more glimpse into J/Km/Y fighting Twice/Toga)
- Defeats Ku
- Somehow D defeats Sh also and both B and D destroy the machine
- They go outside and reunite with everyone
- B and K are obviously very excited to see the other alive
- Lots of relief
- They confess their and k*ss in the rain (gross… romance…)
Chapter 27:
- Basically, the previous 3 chapters wouldn’t have had any posts at the end, and the epilogue would be the three articles/posts revealing what happened after
- Y’s article in the newspaper:
- Talks about the fallout from the villains’ attack and how it affects the general populace
- (also they somehow dealt w the villains, idk)
- Also also, about vigilante reception (maybe more of them, something about the vigilante stuff…)
- D’s post on his website/blog thing:
- Talks about theories about quirk development and how it is projected to continue in growth and how society might look after
- Maybe some reveal about OFA and more details about it? Who knows
- A’s social media post
- This one was supposed to be funny LOL. Basically it’s like “if u were following all along, they got together.”
- It was meant to imply she was posting all along about Krbk’s relationship haha, somehow they never saw it. Guess they were too busy with vigilante activities to notice
- You know as I’m writing this, I realize I don’t really resolve any of their school plotlines… I guess it just gets easier when they have much less vigilante-ing to do… anyway all is well and everything is happy. YAY! <3
