Chapter Text

The old man woke me up early this morning, like he said he would. Unlike the hag, he actually gives a shit about me. It's not like I actually open up to him about anything that's bothering me, but it's nice to know that if I wanted to, I had someone. I got dressed and ready to go, I grabbed a t-shirt to wear for work which I had right afterwards, and my binder because I would be wearing a sports bra for the test, and I left. I had been training for this day for years, yet I'd never felt more unprepared in my entire life, I felt like I was about to take a test that I didn't study for, except I don't know that feeling, because I've always studied for tests. But that's irrelevant. I entered the stupid testing room and my entire mood is fucked up, my year is ruined. Deku. He's sitting in a seat mumbling to himself like he always fucking does, like the stupid deku that he is, and of course, the only seat that's not taken is the one next to the nerd. I sit down and take the writen exam, it was pretty easy, obviously. Eventually some hero guy with weird ass yellow hair starts talking to everyone, talking about how the practical exam is gonna work and stuff, I get out there and I'm destroying these fucking robots, it was nice. After the exams I grabbed my t-shirt and threw it on over my binder in the bathroom and left. I ran all the way to the park and used my key to unlock the cafe doors, my manager would be here soon and I knew she was gonna ask me shitty questions about the exams so I'd better get a least a little done before she comes in. I washed the little dishes that were left in the sink and swept the floor, while I was wiping down the counter I heard the bell ring at the door, I turned to see who it was even though there was no one it could be other than my manager. She saw me and practically teleported back with me.

"Hey" - I turned back around and continued wiping the counters

"Hey! How's your hand...and the your face?" - She was too smiley and loud for this early in the morning

"Fine"

"Good, how'd the exams go?"

"Oh I absolutely destroyed those extras"

"As you should"

"Yeah"

"Hey...when you stayed at my house...you were...kinda...off..."

"What'dya mean?"

"Well you were, just, really, closed off I guess, and it's not like your a very open person to begin with, but you were just more- er less, well, you"

"I don't get it"

"Well, Instead of complaining about your mom, you were just...kinda quiet, which is unusual for you, and you were pretty anxious all night too, you were spacing out all of the time, and jumped at literally everything"

"Oh"

"I-im not trying to pry at anything you don't wanna talk about, I just wanted to make sure you were ok"

"I'm fine"

"You are?"

"Yeah"

"Ok...uh, I should go open"

"Yeah you should"

"Alright, we'll uh, talk more at break or something?"

"Yeah, or something"

"Right" - And that was that, she went to go open, I stood at the counter and got on my phone when I realized I forgot to put on my apron, so I went to the back and grabbed it before going right back to the front and put it on. There was already a customer, it was the guy with black hair, again, doesn't he get sick of coffee, like, fucking ever?

"Lemme guess, a salted caramel cream cold brew size medium?" - I probably could have just said "the usual" but that sounded cliche and cringey.

"Yeah, and can I get a croissant with that too?"

"Uh-huh, sure gimme a second" - He was blushing a little bit, but that could have been my imagination. I turned around and made his drink, and almost forgot the croissant, but remembered just in time, he payed, tipped and left, like always.

Hope you liked this chapter, the chapters go in pairs so I'm probably gonna try to post 2 chapters every two weeks so be ready for that. <3

I also have no idea how to summarize this yet so bear with me on that part.
