Chapter Text
You unlocked the door to your new apartment, heart pounding with excitement. Casey just kept a wide grin on his face when the three of you entered the space. “It’s even better seeing it in person…” You were in awe. “I hope I did great with moving every box to the exact location you wanted them to be” Casey said as he took place on the couch, it was the only thing unpacked and ready to use. You guessed it was Casey’s doing, you were glad he did.
You and April stand in the middle of the living room, surrounded by stacks of boxes with the labels “Living room”. You were very organised when you packed all of this move. The excitement hasn’t diminished, though. In fact, it’s only growing stronger when you imagine the place being decorated with everything you had brought with you. Transforming your home into a warm and inviting environment.
“You did amazing, thank you Casey…” You scratched the back of your head, feeling a little guilty for having him do most of the moving part.
“I know that look, stop it, I did it with pleasure. Besides the moving company you hired helped out a lot as well! So don’t worry” Casey got up and wrapped and arm around you, pulling you in close. It felt familiar and nice.
“Fine, but I will definitely treat you to something nice when I’m finished with settling in” You spoke out, it was a promise. You stuck out your pinky. “Pinky promise.” You grin.
“You’re such a child” Casey laughed before he stuck out his pinky as well. “Am not-“ “Am too”
“Ladies ladies, you’re both pretty, can we eat now?” April joined in on the teasing, you just couldn’t keep it together. Bursting in laughter at her comment. “Ohhhh- good one, agreed I am starving, plane food is the worst” You claim.
The three of you eagerly grab a slice of pizza, savouring the delicious aroma as you take your first bite. The combination of melted cheese, savoury toppings and the crispy crust is pure perfection. “Have you heard about the vigilante’s in New York ? I mean surely you two have, they’ve been around for some time right? No one has ever seen them?” You started a conversation, but as soon as you mentioned it both Casey and April almost choked on their food, coughing and swallowing some water to wash away the pizza stuck in their throats.
“Vigilantes? I-I mean, I’m so busy with my work I hardly pay attention to such news !!” Casey quickly said. You look at Casey, who nervously tries to dodge the topic. April gave him a quick glare, she didn’t think that excuse was something you would buy. “Really? I find it hard to believe the great Casey Jones isn’t somewhat familiar with the news” You took another slice of pizza. “How about we try to unpack a couple things before it gets dark?” April quickly suggested.
“That doesn’t sound like a bad plan.. I was planning to just sleep on the couch-“ You mumbled a little, but they could still make out the words you just said. “We could try to fix up your bed, would be way more comfortable for your first night” Casey quickly god up. He mentally thanked April for helping him out avoiding the conversation.
”Andddd that is the last screw” Casey said wiping away the sweat lingering on his forehead, it took almost two hours to build. The first hour was mainly Casey trying to be ‘the man’ and reading the instructions himself. Eventually tho, April managed to rip out the instructions from his clutches, giving them to you. “Aaahh! This feels great” You said after plopping down after the mattress was laid on top. “I really owe you two big time for this” You could feel the sleep slowly sneak up on you. Yawning and trying to keep your eyes open. It almost made you just want to fall asleep already, right then and there.
Casey and April can’t help but chuckle at the sight of you sprawled out on your bed they finished assembling together. April had gotten a text and immediately nudged Casey in his side. “O-Oh eh, is it that late already” Casey pretended to be tired while faking a yawn. “Oh?” You sat up and checked your phone. “It really is late, no wonder I’m feeling tired” You look at them before getting up.
“Again thank you two for helping me, it’s really appreciated”
As Casey and April left, you were left alone, and a sense of unease crept over you. The apartment felt eerily quiet, and every slight noise made you jump. You double-checked all the locks, trying to reassure yourself. You’re save, no one can come in and you’re feeling at ease. In your previous home you had the same anxiety. Crime was very common in your neighbourhood. New York wouldn’t exactly be safe either, but you lived in a apartment building on the third floor. What could go wrong right?
In the dark of the night, on the rooftop on the other side of the apartment building, four mysterious shadows patiently waited for their companions, Casey and April, to join them. The moonlight cast an eerie glow on their forms as they stood in anticipation. Each shadow carried a sense of determination and readiness, their eyes keenly scanning the surroundings. “What was so important that we had to come right away?” The two made it to the rooftop, getting greeted by their turtle friends. “Karai, we got intel that the foot clan and the kraang are having a meeting at the harbour tomorrow night. We must find out what she is up too. I get a bad feeling” The blue masked turtle stepped into the light. Revealing his form to his friends.
“Who was that dudette you two were seeing?” Mikey, as per usual, couldn’t help his curiosity about this new human. “That’s y/n, she’s sorta my childhood friend” Casey explained. “We’re not here to talk about a human girl, we’re here for action!” Raph, who now also came out of hiding smashed his fist against the palm of his hand. “Raph is right, if we want to find out what their plan is we need to get moving right away” Donnie was the last to show himself, busy browsing in his laptop to crack some codes he tried to decipher.
“I suggest we infiltrate the kraang to find the information, we will be stealth and work in the shadows. Don’t be seen. We don’t want Karai and the Kraang to know we heard about their meeting” Leo showed no fear, he was determined. Karai would not get away with this, not again…
