Chapter Text
Who am I but a moon that reflects the sun’s radiance? Blue to his gold and still always standing in his shadow. I don’t hate it and I’d follow him to the edge of the Tower, but when will the night end, and he’ll no longer want his moon?
He claimed Rachel had been his star, but I selfishly gave myself the title of “moon.” He’s never called me that and I don’t think he ever will. He had chased her but now I’m the one chasing him.
Always tripping over my feet, I stumble and fall over and over again. Each time I do, he stops to pick me up, but when will he realize that I can’t keep up? Baam has the speed, power, and agility to continue to climb, but I’m always 10 steps behind.
Once again, like the moon, I wax and I wane. I want to reflect all of Baam’s brilliance, but it changes from day to day. He’s always the sun, shining so easily like it’s what he was born to do. But me..? I’m unable to on my own. I always have to borrow and steal to illuminate even a fraction of what he does.
He’ll make it to the top of the Tower. In fact, I’m certain of it. Tales of his prowess will go down as ancient history and be retold for the next millennia. They’ll recite his story year after year and recall how his life had changed everything.
Because of course they will, he is the sun. A day without the sun is no day at all, but a night without the moon is just as illuminated by the stars in the sky. Baam will never be forgotten and while he radiates, I’ll do my best to be his moon in every phase.
I hate to admit it, but I name myself as such in hopes of remaining with him. Because who am I to compare to him?
At this rate, I can barely even keep myself alive.
