Chapter Text
His tears drop silently into the cold snow, puffs of steam rising from the melting layer. The tombstones dimly shine in the quiet rays of the moon, a grim reminder of what had occurred only two years prior. A warm hand grips his shoulder, and he stops sniffling for a moment, to listen to the elder man.
“Young Midoriya, you know neither of their deaths were your fault. Don’t tell me you’re blaming yourself for this?”
He simply didn’t respond, but his tears stopped flowing. The only huffs of steam were from his breath, as he kneeled at his parents’ graves. The inscriptions engraved into the gravestones was almost all he had left of either of them. He shook his head, moving to stand on his weakened legs. Toshinori’s arm moves back down to his side, and the boy shakily takes in a breath.
“I... I-I don’t…Not anymore, at least…” Weakly, he moves, brushing against Toshinori’s arm in the process. The older man follows from a distance, as Izuku unsteadily, yet calmly, walks against the hardened cement. He pulls out his phone, sliding his thumb down to look at his contacts. The screen’s brightness lights up his face, and he winces. His contacts continue to push forward, the names of his classmates providing small amounts of comfort to the boy. His hot breath blends with the cold, and he shivers.
The rest of the walk to the dorms is silent, aside from the occasional notification from Izuku’s phone. Mostly, the notifications were for games, news, or other things. However, there was one different one.
Current Time: 01:23
Notification: 1 (@11:38)
Ochako Uraraka
“Waiting on you for the normal walk!”
He smiles at the message, sniffling from the cold. The dorm rooms loom over the campus walls, and he provides his identification to the check system. The door slowly slides open, and he walks towards the dorm building, his feet leaving large imprints in the melting snow.
He approaches the dorm building, and silently observes the outside. His eyes trace along the doorway, and he falls into a trance. He remembers his times he had outside of the dorms, and his eyes water again. Shaking his head, he approaches the door. His hand rests silently on the handle, and he stands, observing again.
“Lights out, probably… Gonna have to go in quietly, otherwise, Iida might harass me tomorrow…” He puts on his best smile, in case anyone is awake, and quietly pushes against the door. It gives way silently, without hassle. He steps into the heated room, and instantly slips out of his coat. The warm embrace of the heat gently wraps itself around him, and he sighs, in a new calm. However, his alarm is instantly sparked by a figure spread out on a couch, their breathing reaching his ears. The quiet, small breaths indicate to who it is, and he relaxes. He moves carefully over to the couch, sitting beside her.
He watches Ochako, smiling as she sleeps. Her hair had fallen into her face, and her blanket was starting to fall off. He brushes her hair away from her face, seeing her light blush. His grin gets wider, as he attentively—yet shakily—wraps her in her blanket. Swiftly, he puts her in a bridal carry, casually moving to the hallway. He presses the elevator up button, which makes a loud ‘ding’. She stirs in his arms, her eyes threatening to open. He curses at himself under his breath, and sets her down. Her eyes slowly open, her usual brightness returning to her face. She stretches, pushing her arms out, clearly not fully awake. Her chocolate brown eyes met his green ones, and his cheeks instantly began to heat up. Her small blush on her face increases in darkness, but she shakes her head, seemingly settling on something. The freckles dusted around his face turning a deeper red, he quickly leans back up, apologizing.
“AhI’msosorryUrarakapleaseforgivemeIjustwantedyoutobecomfortableinyoursleepsoIwastakingyoubacktoyourdormandpleasedonthatem —”
She wraps her arms lazily around his neck, beckoning towards her legs.
“Carry me, Deku…”
His skin turns into a crimson red, but he manages to whisper.
“O-Okay, U-Uraraka.”
She slips the blanket off of her, standing up and thoroughly stretching. She goes behind Izuku, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling herself onto his shoulders. He reaches his hands around her legs to keep her steady, which simultaneously causes him to blush more. The elevator’s golden light spilling into the hall, he finally moves inside, still blushing heavily. She rests her head on his, slowly falling asleep again.
“Deku…” She says in a tired, almost comforted voice. He glances up at her, a worried expression on his face.
“Could… Could I sleep in your dorm tonight…?”
He makes a small choking noise, his heart beating even faster than it had been. His entire world was crashing down at the prospect of them sleeping in a bed together, alone.
“S-Sure U-Uraraka! T-That’s fine!”
She smiles down at him, resting her head on his head once again. Her small puffs of air pushed his hair, causing the boy to slightly shiver. The elevator let out another ding, followed by the ‘swoosh’ of the doors opening. She mumbles into his hair, most of her words not making any sense. He smiles at this, slowly moving to his dorm room.
He reaches the end of the hall, grasps for his key, and manages to unlock and open the door. He steps inside to the All-Might filled room, and smiles at the familiarity. He closes the door, slowly coming to a stop before the bed. He looks up towards Ochako, who tiredly nods towards the bed. Setting Uraraka on his bed, he wraps her tightly in his sheets. She smiles delicately at him, and he beams back at her. He moves away from the bed, when he’s stopped by a sudden pull to his T-Shirt.
“D-Deku… Please…”
He gulps, his hands straying down obediently to his sides. He stumbles to the bed in the darkness, and sees Ochako scooting closer to the wall. He silently glides in next to her, the combined warmth from her and the sheets feeling rather soothing. He turns his back to her, slowly beginning to drift off. However, his mind generally doesn’t focus on sleeping, but instead focuses on Ochako. Her quiet breathing shallows, but occasionally picks back up. Slowly, he begins to let his mind wander on the possibilities of them being this close.
“U-Uraraka?”
He feels her shift next to him, putting her face dangerously close to the back of his neck. He flips around, his alert green eyes gazing into her lazy, sleepy, brown eyes.
“What is it, Deku?”
He gulps, pushing his fear away. Slowly, he wraps his arms around her, and her eyes open wider. Her face changes to a shaky smile, her cheeks clearly flushed.
“For the first time this night, she actually seems awake.”
