Chapter Text
Their first meeting wasn't anything special. The Beastmen Mercenary squad just heard a rumor about the new shop managed only by one young beautiful girl and one of them were to go and check the shop in question. Sena was the one willingly to go and check the shop, because the other member didn't really like mixing with the humans. After finishing his patrol, He walked in to the shop which makes all the customer inside flee whether they just got there, in the middle of eating, or waiting the order. Townspeople is afraid of the Beastmen kin because of their extraordinary strength. There's also a rumor about the Beastmen killing humans in the past. Sena expected this. He knew all of them will run when one of the Beastmen is near. What he didn't know is that the manager of this shop is still there, giving him a normal customer service. She look confused about the whole situation, but it seems she is not afraid of Beastmen.
"Welcome, let me clean up a seat for you. Is the counter seat okay?"
She's sure surprised why the whole shop which is full a minute ago becomes empty, leaving all the cake, coffee, sandwich unfinished and a few money left behind besides the leftovers, But her focus was on something else. In front of her, there's a fluffy green jackal wearing a black uniform. She knows about Beastmen from the time she's in the academy, so she isn't that surprise about meeting one. In fact, she's been dreaming of meeting one.
A-a-a-a... A Beastmen. Awwww it looks just like what I imagine. All those fluffy fur, a squishy paw, i want to touch theeem Her inside voice is just screaming. But she remind herself that this fluffy Beastmen is a customer, it would be rude if she treats him like a pet. She should be professional.
"Welcome, let me clean up a seat for you. Is the counter seat okay?"
Yes, perfect. Good job Ronia
".....!"
When she started to lift a leftover drink on the table, The green jackal starts talking
"What's inside that cup you're holding?"
"Oh, it's a latte"
"Then, I'll take that"
"Okay. Please wait while I prepare-"
"The one's you're holding is fine though"
"O....kay"
She handed him a cup of unfinished latte, and he drinks it on the spot. She tried to think about the condition of the shop, but once again, she was distracted by the fluffy jackal
Aaaaaaw the way he's drinking is the same as a normal animal licking it and bringing it to his mouth. So cuteeee
While drinking, he's observing the whole shop. He looks around to see the condition of the shop, the possibility of other workers (which he didn't found) and finally at the young lady. He asked her a question to confirm the rumor.
"Are you the manager of this shop?"
"Oh, yes. I am the manager, also the owner of this shop. The name's Ronia"
"Are you here alone? Where are your family?"
"Yes. For now.... I live separately from my family. I'm living on my own now"
"Hmmmmm, don't you think it's dangerous living alone? Especially if a Beastmen like me comes to the shop"
"Oh? No, i don't think that at all. It is true that Beastmen have more power than most humans, but in my opinion, both human and Beastmen is the same when it comes to a chance of being a bad person"
"Hmmmmm...."
One thing Sena knows for sure is that she doesn't know about this city's past, which is good. This gave him and the other Beastmen a place to eat.
"Here" Sena tossed a gold coin
"Sir, this is too much, the price is-"
" A tip. From me. Thanks for the drink, I'll come back again"
Sena closed the door of the shop while he's exiting, but he caught a small voice answering his last word
"I'll be waiting"
If someone can see him right now, they won't be afraid of him. Because, he stood there grinning and wagging his tail. The thought of someone other than his family expecting him to come again is too much for him.
It looks like that beauty and the beast book is not a mere fantasy after all Sena's thought after having his first good interaction with a human girl
"I'll be waiting....."
She just watched the green jackal walking out, forgetting to ask his name. He did say he will be back. She mentally note herself to ask his name the next time he comes. For now, she needs to clean up all the leftover in the shop and start the preparation for tommorow. She can't stop thinking the possibility of meeting the green jackal tommorow. She keeps smiling the whole time she's cleaning, hoping that tommorow will comes faster as she tidying up the shop.
