Chapter Text
SIX MONTHS LATER
“Alright Ray, you know your limit is five drinks and you’ve had seven and it’s not even mid-day.” Malia shook her head at the regular.
“I dropped them.”
“You mean you downed them. You can have water now.” she said, handing him a glass.
“After the debacle at the Lady of Liberty it has finally reopened after six months of construction…”
The news trailed on, Malia looked up at the TV. Her, Ned and MJ still didn’t know why they were at the bottom of the monument, Ned had even joked that they were sleepwalking but Malia and MJ said it was impossible.
“Hey Kayla, do you mind if I head for my break?” Malia asked, untying her apron.
“Yeah, sure, go ahead.”
Malia left the bar and headed down to the Statue of Liberty to make sense of things, but with all the celebrations it was unlikely she would get to the island. Tons of people had gathered for the unveiling, a few Avengers had made an appearance.
As she watched, someone bumped into her.
“Oh, sorry.” she said, looking at them.
A young boy, a few years younger than her, smiled. “It’s no problem, my fault anyway.”
She turned to the celebrations then back at him but he had gone, she felt a tap on her shoulder.
“Malia-Joy Leeds?”
“Most people just call me Malia.” she said as she faced the person, “Wait, you’re from the sanctum sanctorum.”
“My name is Wong, and this is for you.” he said, handing her a small box.
“I know who you are- what is this?” she asked, opening the box to reveal a two finger ring. “What is this for?”
“It’s a sling ring, it’s able to create portals and travel through dimensions.”
She furrowed her brows. “Why are you giving this to me?”
“Your family comes from a line of sorcerers, use it wisely.” he said, starting to walk away from her.
“Wait! You can’t just give this to me and then leave, what am I supposed to do with this?” she asked, chasing after him.
“You’ll know what to do.”
She looked down at the ring then back up at Wong, but he had disappeared. “Everyone just keeps disappearing now.” she muttered.
Carefully she touched the ring, an orange spark emerged from it.
Suddenly she remembered everything.

There wasn’t a day that went by he didn’t think about her, he had looked through all the phonebooks her name was nowhere to be found. He’d even googled her name but it only came up with how to get to Leeds, UK from Malia, Greece.
After a few months he stopped looking. He was hopeful that maybe she would pop up randomly whilst he was waiting for a coffee or maybe on the subway. He hated to admit to himself, but maybe she just didn’t exist in his world.
He still visited Gwen’s grave, stopping by twice a week to drop off flowers, he’d still talk to her like she was next to him. He told her all about the Peter’s and Malia, a somewhat guilty feeling in his stomach pained him. But he knew that Gwen would have been happy for him.
He touched the grave before walking away, he stopped off at May’s before leaving the cemetery.
He then opted for the subway instead of swinging through the city, as he walked down the steps his senses started tingling. He looked around, everything seemed normal, people on the platform went by.
He checked up and down the platform in the distance he heard a strange but familiar sound, he walked towards it. Behind a pillar a bright orange spark emerged. A portal opened and his heart skipped a beat.
“Malia?”
She grinned, “Peter,”
