Dutifully, Qiqi looks down and flips through the handwritten pages of her journal. Her daily checklist, her calisthenics, her herb reference guide – ah. There is her list of names and descriptions of people she's met. The important ones have small doodles of distinguishing features, and notes on time they have spent together. If Qiqi doesn't review them daily, or try very hard to keep them in her thoughts, it's like they cease to exist.
There's Dr. Baizhu and Changsheng. The Traveler and Paimon. Hu Tao, and routes to avoid her. And...
“Yaoyao,” Qiqi repeats, touching the small ink portrait on the page. Her best friend. She looks up, eyes round with surprise. “Yaoyao. Sorry. I forgot again. What were we doing?”

Summary
The twin's loss to the Heavenly Principles causes the twins to crash back to Teyvat. One lands right back in Khaenri'ah, and the other crashes down in Sumeru, both memories and powers sealed. One wakes up immediately, and the other wakes up decades later.
Or alternatively: Aether is Sumeru's (somewhat) resident immortal and (somewhat) deity who will occasionally adopt a mortal or two that he finds a vested interest in.

After a devasting defeat at the hands of an unknown God Aether wakes up buried underground and alone. After a rocky start he enters an uneasy partnership with the so called God of Wisdom. In exchange for becoming her Sage she will support his search for his sister. But who knows just what or who he will discover on the way
Or: Aether makes a deal with Nahida and becomes her right hand man, he spends the centuries doing paperwork and occasionally adopting people he find interesting

Kaveh smiles up at the stranger. "Sorry, he's right! I am taken. By him. But he doesn't know it yet."
What.
"Wait, what did you mean by that?" Al-Haitham asks faintly.
"Oh, that?" Kaveh scoffs. "You're a little dense. Obviously, I meant exactly what I said. I wouldn't want to be kept by anybody but you."
"But we are—" Al-Haitham trips over his words, trailing behind Kaveh as he walks purposefully through the city. "We aren't. Together. Neither of us has confirmed anything of the sort."
Kaveh gives him a derisory look. "And what, we don't act like it? Some things don't have to be put into words to be understood. Ah, I forgot. Haravatat. You probably wouldn't accept anything else any other way."
"It is not logical to make assumptions without empirical evidence."
"You scholarly types," Kaveh mutters. "Always so particular."
So. Al-Haitham is in love with Kaveh. This has got to be somebody's fault.
Cue the five stages of grief.
