Summary
Eddie’s debating the risks of jumping out the window and fleeing the country when the words slip out of their own accord. She’s just as shocked as Buck is, and that’s a pretty damn high bar.
“I’m probably a woman.”
It comes out far too casually for the energy of the conversation thus far, and the sudden shift has Buck and Eddie standing stock still in surprise. No one says a word. Eddie sort of wants to die just a little bit more the longer the silence lasts.
Buck is the first to break it.
“...Probably?” He looks absolutely bewildered, like that was the last thing he expected to come out of Eddie’s mouth. In fairness, it probably was.
“Definitely,” Eddie amends quietly.
It’s like that one word was the gust of wind to knock over the house of cards. The last sandbag holding back the raging flood. The camel’s back has been obliterated, so to speak, and all it took was that one admission.

Summary
"I want to not feel like this. I want to feel normal. I want to feel like I’m not built wrong.”
“You weren’t.”
“What?”
“Built wrong. You weren’t. Eddie, you’re my best friend. You’re the best guy I know.” Buck is being so sincere. Eddie doesn’t know why it feels like a punch to the gut. “Being … different, it’s okay. You’re allowed to be different. I like you how you are.”
Buck understands him so much, but he doesn’t get this. He sees Eddie on a level no one else ever has, but this thing, it’s hidden so deep Buck’s never even gotten the chance to glance at it, let alone know it.
“I don’t,” Eddie answers, hoping Buck doesn’t make him expand, while also hoping desperately that Buck makes him expand.
“What?”
“I don’t like myself how I am.”
“What-what would you change?” Buck is stepping carefully, like they’re surrounded by landmines, but Buck will always push. He knows it’s what Eddie needs, even if it’s what terrifies Eddie most.
Make me say it out loud, something inside of him says, please, God, at least once, make me say this out loud. Let it exist, even just for a second.

Summary
“Well,” says Hen, “I, for one, think you look amazing.”
“Hey!” says Eddie defensively. “I never said he looked bad. I love the ‘free dad hugs’ thing. I just think the contrast is hilariously jarring.”
Bobby smirks. “Alright. What do you think of my sign?”
He holds up a large square of poster board, with I LOVE MY BISEXUAL WIFE written on it.
“Incredible,” Buck says. “Eddie’s going to have to make a ‘husband’ version of that for me.”
Eddie blushes. “Husband?”
“Boyfriend, I mean,” Buck says, cheeks somehow turning a deeper pink than Eddie’s.
Hen and Karen exchange a look.
“Alright, shut up,” says Buck.
“Nobody even said anything,” says Karen, raising an eyebrow.
“Whatever,” says Buck, looking away.
“You know what?” says Eddie, in an attempt to change the subject. “I think I should go get dressed right now.”
“Oh!” says Karen excitedly. “I cannot wait to show you the outfit I bought you.”OR: The 118 goes to pride, featuring transfem eddie diaz!

Summary
Everything is orange-red. It’s how time passes; it’s who Eddie is. Orange slices on Abuela’s back porch. A ketchup stain on the orange checkered table cloth, Adriana’s guilty face, Mama’s annoyed one. Clean that up, won’t you? Mama tells Eddie, irritated: she’s tired, she’s annoyed, she’s always right. Eddie wipes up ketchup stains and bloody noses but can’t stop himself from bleeding out, little by little.
OR
Eddie is bleeding out. She dreams.

Summary
He knows this is dangerous, that he's feeling things he normally tries to ignore much stronger than usual, but he thinks if he lets go right now he’ll die. “Hey. You know what I was doing when you were stuck in that well?”
“I was trying to dig you out. I couldn't stand the thought of you being trapped like that. But you got yourself out, didn't you?”
or; Eddie sees the TV glow.
