(They say that Nimona was born wrong, because she could change shape, because she was neither man nor woman, because when she was a child, Nimona thought that she had heard the song on the air, but all she truly heard was the sound of the town burning, the world ending, as everyone turned on someone that they didn't understand, because it was easier to be afraid than to be curious with an open heart.)

So she drags them to bed and wraps her arms around both of them.
Sometimes, it’s so hard to get the motions to connect. To get three bodies to understand that they are each other’s anchors rather than poles on magnets seeking to escape each other, especially when they can all sense different things when it comes to their ghosts.
But in this moment, Lucy listens as she never has before. Listens to the beat of hearts and the pace of breaths in the chests beneath her ear, alive in the way that the creatures that they investigate are not.
George reaches out. Touches, hands calloused but tender against both of them.
And Lockwood looks at them both, gaze refusing to be torn away.
And for a moment in time, the three agents of Lockwood & Co. just breathe.

Sam doesn't know that sometimes, when she can't stand the pressure that she's under, when she is staring down at her stomach in the mirror and is unable to recognize it as her own, she drives over to Santana Lopez's house.
She knows she's riding the line any time that Santana ducks her head between Quinn's thighs and makes her see god in a way that kneeling in the pews at church never did.
But for a moment, when Santana's acrylics dig into Quinn's back, when she rides that wave, it's impossible not to chase the closest to euphoria that the ex-head of the Celibacy Club has ever felt.
If anyone found out the truth, she could claim that this is just an experiment. That this is just girls being girls, letting off some steam.
But if she's honest with herself about what she sees when she looks in the mirror, she knows that she has never felt more settled in her own skin, more at home in her own body, stretch marks and all, than when she is with Santana, giggling in her bed, nibbling at her skin, tasting the sweat from under a cheerleader's uniform.

There were tears in JJ’s voice as she said, “It’s going to devastate them, to see you die.”
Emily knew that they all cared. That she had friends.
But Spencer and Derek had been dating for ages before she ever got swept up between them. They’ll grieve, probably, but—
They’ll be fine. It’s not like she was their girlfriend or anything. She hasn’t been anyone’s girlfriend in a very long time, no matter how much some part of her yearned to finally anchor herself.
She hopes that they move on. That would be better than the alternative, she has to think.
They'd only just started dating—if you can even call what they were doing dating at all. She might have wanted it to be, but she knows, in practice, that it was just friends accepting her into bed because they wanted someone that they trusted to have some fun with. They should be able to move on, right?
(When Emily fakes her own death, she has been sleeping with Derek and Spencer for about a month- but she might already be in love with them. They don't love her back, though, right? There's no way she's haunting them like they're haunting her.)

This goes for all sibling relationships, the good, the bad, and the deeply, uncomfortably complex—but, in Nom's opinion, especially when you are the eldest.
It felt like for the first four years of his life, he had been waiting for her to come along. Waiting for a small little blur of ginger and freckles to rock his world and fix it all in one go, perfect in every way she could be, even though she was annoying and stole his fries and was pathetically obsessed with becoming just like her big brother.

She flings her arms around Emma’s shoulders, squeezing tighter than Emma would ever let anyone inside of her personal boundaries. “God,” the woman says, voice nearly breaking over the words, “It’s been so long. I’ve been doing everything I possibly can to get back to both of you—"
The woman turns her mouth towards Emma’s—
And Emma jerks back.
Maybe, once a long time ago, she thought that she might be interested in something like this, in women, in someone but her boyfriend—
It took years for Emma to even let in Killian. Why would she ever let some random stranger kiss her?
And so Emma pulls back quickly, sharply, and demands: “Who the hell are you?”
The woman swallows, hard. “That’s right,” she says, “You don’t remember who I am. Of course you don’t.” Her posture immediately pulls tight and back. “Regina Mills. I’m the Mayor of Storybrooke, Maine. And I need to speak to you about you and your son’s past.”
(In which Emma opens the door of her NYC apartment to find Regina Mills with a memory potion in hand, desperate to show Emma that she and her son Henry are missing someone important.)
