Gah, thank you so much! You also picked out all my favorite parts and that makes me thrilled! I'm especially relieved that Usnavi and Vanessa pre-relationship worked here. It was a little strange writing them so far in the past, but I had fun with it and exploring at least a little glimpse of what their dynamic might have been like in order for them to get to where they are in canon. I always felt like they knew each other but not that well, just from picking up clues in the musical. They have the running theme about champagne that seems to be an inside thing for them, but then Vanessa doesn't really know if Usnavi dances. So I kind of aimed for a middle ground there between familiar and friends. (But yes, of course Sonny knows and OF COURSE they're BOTH gonna change the world, I doubt that Usnavi would have it any other way.)
