    I'm only familiar with Nier: Automata because of SGF's playthrough of it, but this is *excellent.* You're an incredibly talented writer! I absolutely adored the use of that medieval poem, the scene where 9S tries out her new body and 2B discovers her, the way 9S questions what gender even means to sexless androids and asks 2B what being a girl means, and the whole ending but especially the reuse of the opening paragraph and 9S's death scene - ow, my poor heart!

    I think my favorite part overall was this:

    "She asks me what that means. I think long and hard about it, studying whatever scraps of human culture I can find, and after about a week determine that 'girl stuff' involves painting ones’ nails and complaining about men.

    I think I almost make her laugh."

    Because it made me laugh out loud. You really, really nailed this fic.
