    Oh boy, we really jump right in with Rosa, that was an exciting start to a chapter :D
    And what a heavy conversation between Ciri and Triss. But it was a good one to really show how Ciri understands her own power and responsibilities.

    as for the dad question - Crach seemed good and I'd argue Vesemir was a decent enough dad too, even if he wasn't actually related to any of his children ;P

      If I wrote crack AU of my own fanfics the whole story would have started with Rosa running through the forest, followed by a Flash-freeze “my name is Rosa var Attre. You probably wonder how I ended up here. Well let me tell you.” 😉

      Ciri and Triss discussion was something I looked forward to writing. Many ruler coming of age stories are about discovering one’s responsibilities but Ciri makes clear in the game that she already does understand. So instead her journey is more of discovering the limits and possibilities of power. Triss makes an excellent foil for this, as she knows Ciri enough to have these conversations but is still more distant then Geralt or Yennefer. Of course Triss has her own insecurities to deal with. Angst all around!

      I forgot about Crach, he does seem okay. Vesemir is a decent father figure but he’s also running a “mutate kids into morose monsterslayers” racket so idk.

        fair enough – in his defence, he's been a victim of the same racket. Which doesn't absolve him from continuing the circle but it does explain some things. I always got the feeling that Vesemir tried to make the best of what was given to him but never really managed to break out of the role that had been drummed into him, though I think he did soften with time.

        PS – now I want to read that crack AU...

          True that. Also he shows quite allot of disgust and remorse when they bring out the trial bed in Kaer Morhen. Vesemir is a more complicated figure then one might think.
