The hardest part about fanfics and media like it is how recovery tends to be portrayed. It's never as simple as movies and shows make it seem - you don't magically get better when you fall in love. I think it's really important to show the realistic sides of recovery - to show the ups and the downs and the tears. Showing how Chan stumbles but has the support he needs to get back up again is important for anyone who can relate, because it shows them that hope isn't lost, and that they can recover, and that relapsing doesn't mean you failed.
i really appreciate that <3 the slow recovery thing definitely felt real. something you wrote, idr the exact phrase but it was like "you can't stumble if you're standing still" and i think about that line so much now. it's honestly really encouraging to me thank u v much for writing this the way you did
That line is something I tell myself a lot to remind myself not to be as hard on me when I get in a bad state. I know it's a little cheesy, but it really does help to remind yourself that it's okay to hurt and stumble - that it's alright to be HUMAN
