Comment on A Line of Dominoes, Falling

  1. *cackles* NOW TIME TO BLAZE THROUGH AT LEAST FIVE CHAPTERS OF HISTORY IN ONE SITTING. (My education is insanely amazing, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Now if I actually *managed* my time instead of procrastinating, I would be a lot less stressed but that requires stuff like *schedules* and *order* and that is not a strong suit of mine as evidenced so very nicely by my inconsistent fic updating) *snickers* That "I'd say ___, but I'd be lying." is a phrase that reminds me strongly of one of the first fanfics I read and is now sadly half removed (the author removed it from FF.N and then posted like seven chapters over here, but i'm still dying for the rest of them so I can read it and break my heart again *flops*)

Yes, that entire list of things is things I like to do at night. Also drawing and listening to music and brainstorming more stories (like i need any more bouncing around in my brain)

Mhm. I didn't like Steve all that much at first cause he reminded me of Dick's reputation among other teenage girls (all about their looks and how charming they are and endless discussions on hotness and abs and like nothing about personality and just very shallow and ughhhhhh *bonks head on wall*) and I wasn't super impressed by him (though that's really mostly the fault of CA:TFA not having the most amazing of stories in my opinion and not ever really engaging me or getting me genuinely interested) but then as I started to understand his character better, I liked him more. And started to see how troublesome he was (and i liked that in Winter Soldier it showed more of his personality) and thus took him off my list of mild dislike cause I'm tired of hearing about them as fictional crushes. Cause he's very much a rule breaker and amusingly contradictory cause he's supposed to be the one all about getting others to follow rules XD

So yeah, frozen in ice thing doesn't happen. But there is a period of several years. Cause Tim and Jay will both be younger when the war's going on, and then Tim ends up just needing to move on after Jay's death and it's years afterwards that the Winter Soldier starts to show up every so often, but not in regards to Tim at all, just him being his detectivey self and figuring out that there's an assassin, a very very good assassin, taking out a lot of key people that should have been playing a role in events, and then him tracking it back to see that it's been years of "accidents" and "sudden illnesses" where important people to something or other are dying right before something important was supposed to happen. And that things have been forced to change because of those deaths. Which means that the investigative birb is probably gonna start researching, probably tip someone off (intentionally or accidentally is still to be investigated) and then Winter Soldier probably gets sent after him or something. (Also maybe thinking of Duke for Falcon? Cause sensible sane friendly one.) I haven't sat down and plotted it out yet, it's just been a concept floating in my head ever since I watched First Avenger. (And having one of Jay's nicknames for Tim to be Robin is yes. so perfectly sad. and inspires me for a lot of other sad things :D)
*GASPS* T E X A S. Y E S. I like Texas. Y'all are cool. Our family half jokes about moving there sometimes cause you've got your own power grid and can legally succeed without needing to get permission from the other states. Which just adds to the coolness factor. So maybe at some point we might come down there and join ya *winks*
I shall send you the link when i find it again *nods*

Yeah, names and covers are possibly gonna be hard. Names come to me on an inconsistent basis, I have lots of really good fic names that pop out of nowhere that I like, but it'll be interesting once my stories move from being "superheroes," "leather," "R'hedi Quadrant," and "R'hedi Quadrant - Era 3" (those last two are the sci fi ones with E3 being the one that happens some period of time after the first and shows the aftermath of what happened to those planets and cultures (their rise and fall) from R'hedi, while also having it's own story). As for covers... I'm *ahem* very blessed in terms of artistic skill in pretty much everything I ever try. So. I am... slightly offended at the thought that someone else could design a cover for *my* story *better* than I can. (Obviously there are better artists than I out there, but I can *design* something perfectly fine and then have someone else do the actual art *if i must.*) Of course, once I write the story we'll see what pops out to me as the obvious cover design, but I've been enjoying analyzing book covers for years as well and I already have a vague sense of the kind of style that best fits each story, so hopefully that shouldn't be *too* problematic... (I've been on Wattpad... once I think. But I shall try and read your stuff once I remember to and have time *nods and adds to list*)

*GASPS* SADNESS!!! I SHALL GOOD FRIEND YOU IN THAT CASE. YOU DESERVE GOOD FRIENDS. *NODS*

*grins* WONDERFUL. And there's no plot or secret points on the boards, just a lot of brainstorming for the aesthetic of the worlds and then character inspiration stuff XD So fear not. You shan't be deprived of any shock that may follow from my writings. Just message me on there when you find me so I know it's you :P

That would be so much funnnnn yessssss we shouldddd

*flops* yeah, good logic. but still. I want to BE ABLE TO DO IT ALLLLL CAUSE W H Y N O T. (totally not me being perfectionistic and an overachiever ha ha ha nope.)

    1. I just did it again.
      I canceled the comment.
This is what happens when I use a phone to do this. This is like the fourth time.
I'll be back to comment on this in a bit.

      1. Tip. When writing on the phone and you've written a lot for a comment, select and copy the whole thing so JUST IN CASE it gets deleted :D I did this several times yesterday and pasted it into notes so i could write without fear

        1. *Sigh* yeah. I'll probably end up doing something like that.

    2. I'M BACK! (*Whispers* sorry for the lateness. Not only did I delete the comment, but I just got home from vacation, so everything is working differently. :), Also, we're back home, so the wifi sucks, and classes today, but I did it!)

Ok, was it at least the interesting kind of history? Or was it boring and sludgey? (Schedules are hard. I've got to work on mine now that I have classes going on *pouts*)
Oh no! That's the worst! How long has it been since they updated? I'm sorry that you can't break your heart in that specific way right now. *Pats your head consolingly*

It's just not the same to talk during the day. During the day you have to do day things. At night you don't do the day things, so there's space to do other things. (I seen to be winning from all your ideas, lol. Even if they're not written they're great 😏)

It's not that I have a problem with Steve, in fact, I like his character. I think it's just how often movies are focused mainly on mis/non-communication. They just need to be adults and talk about their feelings and what's going on. They're supposed to be a team. Come On, people. Talk to each other! And like, I know it's not that easy in real life, either, but I don't mean that they need to share all their deepest traumas and fears. Just, talking like adults about what their goals and plans for the team and themselves are. Like how Steve kept the whole 'Bucky murdered your parents' from Tony. That is just a Sucky Move. I wouldn't be happy with either of them either. Not saying that Tony's right, but. If they would just. Talk. We wouldn't have the same issues. And then on top of communication issues a lot of movies (in my opinion) don't have enough humor/comedy to make up for the seriousness of it all. I like Antman and Thor: Ragnarok for the reason that they Do have that humor to offset the serious topics and choices.
So, anyway, I like his character, I like most of their characters, honestly, especially, like you said, he's supposed to be the great leader, when half the time he's (is inciting too strong a word? Initiating, maybe?) Rebellion. And how he is absolutely dog loyal.
Yeah, fictional/celebrity crushes tend to focus on such a small amount of people that it just gets annoying and repetitive to listen to.

Ok. Yeah. That makes sense. *Nods agreement* (it should be accidentally. It's worse that way :D) (also, yes. Duke as Falcon is 100% a go. Do you have any other characters (from either world) that you're planning on trying to fit in? Or are you just taking it as it comes? (*Coughs* Bruce should be Fury *coughs again*)) well, it's a Good concept, so... If it happens that'd be great, but don't procrastinate too much, or let me sidetrack you from schooling : )

*Grins* yesssss. TEXAS! : D I'm so glad we're so cool. It comes naturally, *fails at flipping my hair over my shoulder* ...I meant to do that...
YES! JOIN THE TEXAS SIDE! We have... *Rifles through pockets* *mutters some lint... A penny... *returns to normal level* Ahah! *runs to the kitchen* cookies! We have cookies!

Yes. Please send me a link. Links are the best. I like getting those. : D

I occasionally have a thought and I'm like, 'oh, that could be a name for a book.' then I move on, because I don't normally write books, 😶, so.
(Also, I love that they're set in the same universe. I always like to find things like that. Super cool.)
Yeah. I applaud the skills you possess, for I do not have them. I might could think of an idea that would fit the story, but I definitely would not be able to make it. I hope it isn't problematic, it is definitely a problem for me, 😅, lol. (They're both short. One is a star trek one-shot, the other is an original work)

Aww. : ) Thanks! The perils of being a homeschooler, lol. Which is why I've been trying to get Mom to start taking us to 4-H or a co-op again.

      I found you! Yay! :)
I've got All Sorts of randomness on my Pinterest. Feel free to look around!

Yes. I don't know how that would work though. And it would/will have to be after we've settled back into the school routine.

I feel that. So hard. Yup.

      1. I totally get the lateness XD Yeah, getting back into school after a vacation is hard.

It was the fun kind of history. Super fun in fact. Book is The Discoverers by Daniel J. Boorstin and it's considered world history (though it does have a stronger focus on european discoveries and america, it's not totally unbiased, but it does include a fair amount of discoveries and interactions with other cultures and people groups, china especially.) It's all about the history you don't read about in other history books. Like about how timekeeping became a thing and people went from the lunar system to the solar year and then how clockmaking became a thing and how things have progressed in terms of time to the modern day and also about sailing and land discoveries and different figures of significance in cartography and the shape of the world and mythos around the different views. I just finished some chapters on space that went into all the dynamics and drama between the astronomers/renaissance era scientists (Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, etc). I'm only halfway through the book but it's been absolutely fascinating so far and not at all something that's frustrating.

Yes. Day is for Daytime Things. Night is for Nighttime Things like fic and reading and writing and talking.

I am beyond tired of stories that involve miscommunication or a lack of communication in general, especially using that as the main part of the plot. HOWEVER, when it's used in COMEDY that is entirely different (shining example: Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing). I'm really tired of it being used in a cliche in dramatic regular plot stuff though. If it's like. Jason not telling anyone he resurrects and sacrificing himself for someone else in a battle and there being angst and feels and shock and horror from all the rest and they're mourning him and grieving and then he's just. Casually walking out of the room they'd put his body in a few hours ago and they all have a HEART ATTACK. That's different. That lack of communication of extremely important details that really definitely should have been shared BEFORE a major event is lack of communication I can get behind. As well as the resulting lectures. But just *stupid* miscommunication *coughs*theentiretyofcivilwar*coughs* is very unimpressive and honestly tiring at this point. Not interested. Nah. And I'm agreeing with the massive lack of humor in films is making them less enjoyable. I loved Ragnarok and Antman/Antman and Wasp PRECISELY because they had that wonderful humorous aspect to them while still dealing with huge threats. If I wanted a gritty, humorless, depressing story of flawed humans, I'd go watch the news. Ragnarok being like, the actual apocalypse and then being one of the funniest movies they've ever made is what I wanna see. Where are my other funny apocalypse movies?? Why must we always be dark and broody and angsty???

OOOOOOOOOO BRUCE AS FURY. I'm mostly just winging it at this point, i know i had a fully done cast of characters and all this logic put into it when I was watching all the marvel movies, but I don't have that on hand and no clue where it is, sooooo......

uh huh. I'm sure you did. *pats you* Hmmmmmmmm *looks at cookies* HMMMMMMMMM. i will consider this. this "cookies" concept.

SEND ME BOOK NAMES. I WILL RECEIVE HAPPILY.

        *nods knowledgeably* Yes.

        1. Yeah. Let's just say that I won't be nearly as active on the comments for... A little bit. Unfortunately.

That does sound interesting :D. All those random tidbits of knowledge are what make history cool to know. Sure, you should know some things, but really the fun and engaging stuff is the less widely known stuff. Sounds like the kind of book I'd read for fun, lol. I'd get sucked in, and then suddenly I'm halfway through, or something :P

          Precisely. You get me.

Yes, absolutely, well done comedy can get away with a lot of things; communication tropes (or lack thereof) are among them. I can get, (like with your example about Jason, when there isn't a rapport or trust, or even a reason to distrust,) so someone doesn't share details or whatever. That's completely understandable. (Life keeps giving Jason oranges, but when he bites into them it turns out it was a lemon.) He doesn't have many people to trust (with his life, at least) so for his situation it makes sense to not share things. Some other characters have similar situations, but that doesn't give you a free pass to not tell your teammate for the last couple (?several, at least) years, vital/semi-vital/potentially compromising information. (Yeah, civil war can go die in a hole. Under a cliff. (Also, I don't like either of their sides. I see both their points, but they're all stupid, so :l *shrugs*))
Exactly. So many movies (especially more recent marvel ones, I think,) need to release tension a Lot better and more. Just having one funny character really makes a difference. Am I supposed to want to watch these movies again? Because at this point, it seems like most of them I Don't want to watch again. Some of them (Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the wasp, black panther, maybe a few of the other earlier ones, maybe) I would watch again, but they're just so... Much.
Yes please, :D. We need more lighthearted funny apocalypse movies. That's so much better than like, the typical grim dystopian type. I want a grandma as the chosen one. Or, like, an actual literal cat, or something.

Lol. It's so much easier to remember the cast when they're in front of you, isn't it? And so easy to misplace lists and such :/

          They're delicious! *Crunches on a cookie* :)

We'll see, lol. Mostly it's like a seconds thought before I dismiss it and move on, lol.

          1. Yeeeep. Same here. (also totally did not get obsessively hooked on two new fanfic authors who's names are iselsis and envysparkler and they have tons of stuff and it's all so good this is not good for my productivity help)

Yep, that's exactly this kind of history book XD

Yes. Exactly. Jason has a reason to not trust people, especially not at first, and so do a few other people. But Jason SHARES IMPORTANT STUFF when he feels he's gotten close enough to the people. Kori and Roy know Jay's issues and struggles and flaws and weaknesses more than anyone in the batfam. He doesn't keep secrets from them and doesn't try to hide important stuff from them. And considering Jay has ACTUALLY BEEN KILLED. REPEATEDLY. AND ONCE BY HIS *OWN FREAKING FATHER.* he has more reason than most to not want to trust anyone. ever. under any conditions. His PTSD is like... waaaaay more serious than a lot of characters who are known as untrusting. So yeah. Civil War can die in a hole. (I'm so glad I'm not the only one who uses that phrase XD XD) (And yeah, like. The Accords are a nice concept for order cause rogue heroes going and doing whatever is kinda a problem. But government only slows things down more and in the heat of the moment, a hero can't wait around to be deployed by an ever-changing, certainly corrupt government like a super weapon that also happens to be alive. So like. I wouldn't accept them, but I wouldn't go into all out war for people who disagree with me either, I would try and negotiate with the government until there's something like the Justice League, where they're partially responsible to the people and government, but don't need anyone else's permission to act. They're kinda treated like a nation of their own, and the heroes are their citizens. Subject to their punishments and needing to abide by any rules they set in place, and getting brought before *them* not the government when things go wrong and need to legally get worked out. So that's what I think about all that. As for the whole Bucky thing... like. really. does this need to be said??? Bucky is a real, living person who deserves a chance to clear his name and not be attacked needlessly and shouldn't be the victim of a blame game in the first place - but maybe try clearing that up FIRST. you know. BEFORE you both become wanted criminals by the government, as well as anyone else seen associating with you? just a thought. I know you guys don't have many of those anymore. Try not to break your brains processing it. Real, pure, unadulterated logic can be a bit overwhelming for the previously irrational. -_-)
Yes. I agree. I'm not interested in rewatching like. Any of the marvel movies outside of a select few. Like Ant-Man, Ant-Man and Wasp, Thor: Ragnarok, and Guardians of the Galaxy 1&2 I would watch again cause they're fun to watch . Doctor Strange is the only one that's not straight up hilarious that has passed my qualifications to be considered a Good Movie and Definitely Would Watch Again. I mean, Avengers 1, maybe Age of Ultron, maybe Winter Soldier for my AU and just cause *Bucky*, *maybe* Black Panther for the tech and T'challa and Shuri (i was unimpressed with the actual story), and possibly the other two Thor movies (but I don't remember them all that well) I would watch again for different elements. But I was mostly unimpressed by those, and definitely unimpressed by all the other movies. (I watched the Iron Man trilogy and was like.... what.... this is what everyone's ranting about? It's not even that good? I like Tony as a character, but the story writing...???? you guys spent THAT MUCH money on a movie with THAT plot?????? really??)
I might write more lighthearted apocalypse style stuff at some point. Like.... if I was to write it, it would definitely be intense. But when it wasn't intense, I would be having as much fun with it as I could. Cause ya know, when the world's crashing down around you, it's the perfect time to bust out a flute and start playing irish music. Like, imagine a super ninja space warrior battle - you know the ones with the crazy bat-level fighters and high tech weapons in this cool landscape/building - with a slip jig as the soundtrack. It would be awesome. Might as well have fun before you die with the rest of the world. We can be gritty and angsty sometimes, but also laugh and have fun. Come on.

            It definitely is.

            hmmmm

Well if you remember any XD XD

            1. Noooooooo whyyyyyy..... I have things to do!!!!! Lol, I'd already read most of their things, but now I've read all of it. (Hello? Is this my will-power? Can we please block out some time, maybe an hour or two? Please?.... No? *Looks at the camera desperately* but I still have a paper due this weekend! Please?) I don't know if I can help with your productivity 😅

That's good. Out of the best books, and all that, lol

Exactly. Once he's information becomes relevant, or he deems you trustworthy he tells you things. It may take ages, but it will happen. (Which is part of why I think that out of all the Bats Jason is the most likely to end up going to therapy. It would take a long time for them to get to the real trauma, and he would thoroughly vet the person and all, but still. Out of everyone I think he is the one who would really understand and know the difference it would make in a person's life. It would take a long time, but I think he would be ok with it of he found the right person.) That's part of why the outlaws are so great together. They have that trust that makes such a difference. And they support each other and help to make the others better. *stares pointedly at the rest of the Bats* That's essential to being a good family.
Yeah. After all his trauma (first having the parents he did, neither were very good, then being on the streets as a child, then Ma Gunn's School for Boys, then all the heroes and Dick shunning him for being Robin, then being disowned (technically) by his adopted dad, then being betrayed by his birth mother, then being beaten and blown up by Joker, then coming back to life, digging out of his own grave, wondering the streets, being thrown in a pool of insanity, having his brain forced back into itself before he was ready, being manipulated (I love GoodMom!Talia, but even then she did manipulate him) by the person who roused his mind, seeing how there were few changes after he was murdered, and then asking his adopted dad (who verbally disowned him before) to choose him or his murderer, NOT BEING CHOOSEN and instead being KILLED(!) By said adopted father, trying to do better for his family (and/or just trying to avoid them) and still being distrusted at every turn no matter how long he does better, and being thrown in Arkham at least once, and his teammates all either leaving, disappearing, dying, and and and and) I certainly wouldn't blame him if he never trusted another person in his life. Look at all that. Who wouldn't be messed up after even just some of that? Even HE knows he has issues. He KNOWS. And yet he still tries to get friends. Wow. That's impressive. (I like seeing him have kids, or adopt, or whatever, but I don't want the DC writers to do it, because it seems like everything involving Jason goes trashy. Like they would make the kid stab him, or maim him or something. And that just won't do. I will turn to fanfiction for that because I don't trust canon at all. At All. They all stink.)
So yeah. People have issues. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't just communicate with their team/family/friends. Like, come on. Yes. Civil war just is not a thing I like. At all.
Exactly. You don't make a first responder team ask for permission to go fix a problem. That just isn't efficient with either your time or your resources. By the time that fire team got to the fire it's already spread to the whole neighborhood, and all they can do is try to contain it. That is not their purpose. They are there to respond. And fix the problem. They are being trusted to use their judgement on how many people to send and all. That's exactly what you want the heroes to do. If they are made to ask for permission to do anything that means that the gov, or whoever, have total control of what they do. But, like you said, half or more of the people trying to get into powerful positions in that group are probably corrupt and trying to keep the heroes away from their things. Yes. The accords just aren't the thing to do. The Justice League works better. As long as the leaders are able to keep an objective view of the problems they are trying to solve it works well. (That's something in Jason Todd: the Not-So-Outlaw is that they have a trial for Jason. They give him a chance to explain himself, that makes sense, but they still did hold him accountable.) But yes. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean that you go and fight with each other and prove the Government's point. Yes. The heroes have a different picture that the government won't ever have. They have different goals.
Yeah. Bucky's whole situation seems pretty obvious, but someone (coughcoughTonycoughcough) doesn't have very good mental health or a good view about other people. He just sees who and not how, (at least I feel like.) And he wants vengeance, not justice? Because he's not looking at the situation around the problem, just the problem itself. I don't know. Yeah, not being hunted by the Government is a good thing. Which. You know. Communication might help with that. I don't know. Yeah. Logic can be hard to understand when you don't have common sense.

The movies aren't bad necessarily. Just. Not the kind you would rewatch for kicks and giggles. They just. Aren't. The funny ones are. Yeah, those are all good ones. I'm kind of eh about Doctor Strange, though. It's a good movie, but I don't know if I'd watch it again. Eh. We went through and rewatched through some of them again, with my younger sister for her first run through I liked most of them more than I remembered, but I still wouldn't just watch them over and over again... Yes. Bucky. *Nods*
I liked Black Panther just cause I see things that I want to know more about how they work. The mechanics of everything as much or more than anything else. Yeah. Other than that... A lot of the characters are good and interesting, but the storylines are kinda eh. Whatever. I don't necessarily like their actions/reactions to things.

Yes. Lighthearted apocalypse things are hilarious. And the soundtrack is essential to the movie, and playing something funny just makes it better. (Like in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies how the music isn't just all dramatic and suspenseful all the time. It's fun and lighthearted at times too.) It seems like the movies with more of a focus on incorporating music into scenes usually have a better soundtrack. Does that make sense? So yes. Some jig playing during the major battles would be hilarious. Yes. A flute. (Having some important background music be something like this: https://youtu.be/29hWXkk4bb0 would also be hilarious XD) I'm down for a flute. Yes. That sounds beautiful. I want it, lol. Yes. (That reminds me of a clip that my older sister just showed me the other day: (you can start at like 15 sec,) https://youtu.be/T9GFyZ5LREQ ) yes. Much fun before death. *Nods* music is a good way to do that. Exactly. Those things need to all be involved to make an epic thing.

Unfortunately. A clipboard or designated place to put them helps. :D

              Only if I remember, lol

I copied and pasted this whole message from another app, so I guess we'll see how works :)
