    Do you ever go to google maps to better visualise the place
    So you can set it in your mind
    Even when you know it's not really Real!
    Because yes I do all the time
    It doesn't make the tale better
    Just complements my spatial insight

      I do that too
      But I went to New York last year and so I've been reading fics that I remember do descriptions of the city and places, it makes the experience better.
      I've been a fan of this fandom since 2008 so I've read everything as I found it then, now I have to be honest that I don't love many new stories and it's because I feel the use things from older stories and not new things, though of course there are newish writers that are amazing.
      Anyway all of that to say that I so appreciate it when a writer uses real locations, places, restaurants and stores in their stories because I can feel and read all the labor they put in the stories by researching instead of using the same things that were used in the movie.
      So yeah, I'm enjoying in a new way rereading all my favorites after visiting new York last year and see for myself all the dwp places.

        I have always enjoyed the descriptions of the real city and places and find new stories adding their own twist only enhances the tale, with google maps and it’s street view a wonderful tool. Its funny to look back at Miranda’s fictional townhouse and realise. 129 E 73rd St was first filmed three years after the movie came out. I always wonder what those ladies are chatting about.

        It’s difficult isn’t it we all have are own little imaginations of what is cannon, wouldn’t it be excruciatingly tedious if writers just rewrote the movie script and just simply made our Mirandy characters gay or whichever of the rainbow alphabet applies.

        I believe the reason this fandom has survived so long is because the writers are so willing to move beyond cannon and we have ended up with a ‘fannon’ truth, may it long continue. Change can sometimes be a good thing.
