Comment on The Dreamer

  1. I actually loved this chapter! i didn't think it was boring or uneventful at all! I loved Nick empathizing with the young Peacekeeper, knowing how he felt because Nick had been in his shoes. That scene was really powerful because it showed how there were so many who just had to tow the line or face torture/death.

“You think you can win me over, so you can learn everything I know? Get me to tell you all my secrets? Dress up like one of us and act like my friend?” The Peacekeeper shook his head, his face turning to stone. He aimed his gun precisely at Nick’s head. “You have thirty seconds to get off my bridge, Commander.” He spat on the ground.

Nick quickly reached around to his back pocket and took out the handgun. He hated this. The more he looked into the boy’s sad, brown eyes, the more he saw himself staring right back at him. Gilead took another perfectly innocent soul and made him be a soldier, another piece in their game. Nick was done playing around. He didn’t want to see another generation wasted to the horrors he had to go through. How could he possibly get that through this boy’s head?"

    - this whole exchange was perfect, I especially loved how the peacekeeper said Commander sarcastically. And the way Nick saw himself in that young boy was heartbreaking.

I loved that Nick gave him a way out, a way to help the Resistance. And I did not expect them to make it to Canada! (well, not for a few more chapters and not with Nick). That was a really great surprise! I wonder what comes next for them? Is there more Resistance work to do? Can't wait for the next chapter!

    1. Thank you for always coming back and saying something nice! I look forward to it. 😊

They are not out of the woods yet by far. War is still happening in Canada, so they still need to get to safety. I'm sure Nick wants to make sure of that before he makes any of his plans. 😉
