Yun is really a conceptually fascinating character. You see lots of reluctant Chosen Ones forced to fulfill their destinies. The opposite—an eager Chosen One who gets his destiny snatched away—is pretty uncommon. The easiest thing to do would be to make Yun a jerk or evil, so I was pleasantly surprised by how nice and dutiful he was. Which makes the fact that he did turn evil so weird and disappointing. I don't mind him having a dark side or wanting revenge on Jianzhu, but I can't buy him going from "best guy ever" to "sociopath who murders everyone willy-nilly." It's like Harry Potter and the Cursed Child all over again.
Honestly, I'm surprised that there aren't more "Good Yun AUs." Someone should write another where he tags along with Kyoshi as her earthbending teacher or something.
