Lan Qiren is definitely going to be eying the Jiang clan heavily after this. You’re right, parents usually declare their child missing at most. Saying their dead shuts that case down, it’s very final for a group who never found Jiang Cheng’s dead body anywhere. Hmm, I wonder…
The answer, of course, is just that they’re bad parents, haha.
Politics might be an answer if there was a crisis going on -- but there wasn't. If this was just before the Sunset Campaign, the Jiang Sect Heir could act more independently and make more decisions, than a senior disciple. If they wanted to point out to the Jin, that Jin could not take over the Jiang Sect when the only Jiang daughter married the Jin Sect Heir. But thats still years in the future. They could have safely waited a year or three.
There’s really no logical reason they should’ve declared him dead. JFM is definitely getting scolded by the Jiang elders if word ever gets out that JC is still alive, hmm.
Comment on brother, the world didn't let you (so i will)
