I’ve been saving this on the shelf and I finally caved and read it. Now, my knowledge on scp and such is extremely limited, but I think you captured the vibe quite well. The formatting is in a perfect middle where I am intrigued but not constantly confused.
I don’t know why Maka’s mom was never given much more thought in the story. She went to buy milk and never came back, I guess.
As a certified Liz lover, I like the little conflict you gave her when she was told Kid’s identity. The part where she realizes she has to tell him rnrjskkdb And Patty’s very wholesome ofc. I suck at articulating my thoughts but I also enjoyed how you connected the characters in general. With Maka and Soul and Blackstar and Tsubaki.

Noah could have been an interesting character in the manga, but I feel like the very existence of Gopher made me hate him too. Gopher has such a curb stomp-able face. In the end, Noah’s character was only half-baked at best too. His introduction was cool but toward the end, it was a little meh. With the kishin fight, I mean. They were kind of… just there? Should have just died instead doing the multiple Noahs thing.
I like how you involved his character in this story. Still incredibly punchable but in a good way. The worst thing about this fic not updating is me not getting to see him obliterated.

Yeah, I was intrigued by that as well. Some theories for Maka's mother abscence in canon: 1. She's in a super-secret mission, 2. She's been dead for a while, or 3. She abandoned her family. That last scenario might be the most likely, but it's so sad! Maybe that's why I prefered to imagine she was perfectly alive and totally amnesiac for this version, sorry for such a telenovela-twist haha
Liz is one of my favorite characters, too! In canon, the fact that there’s a god of Death is completely normal for the characters, but it would be entirely different in this universe. Despite the many weird things happening in the SCPverse, most of it is kept secret or carefully hidden. I wondered how this version of the characters we know would all react to such truth, and concluded that Liz would be the most conflicted about it.
Kim has had the chance to observe many details! Poor Joe, but, the manga did it first :(

Thanks! At first, I wasn’t planning to make Noah as important here, but it just kind of happened, haha. I agree, what happened to him in the manga didn’t make much sense. When reading the manga, I was waiting to see when they were going to get Gopher, but that never happened and that left me a little bit disappointed. Things might be different here… maybe SCP-682 could help!

Yeah, when I saw that, I thought for a moment that maybe Maka's mom was indeed very dead, and that her father had sent her the post card (with her mom's name) because he didn't know how to tell his daughter the truth. Maybe he had done stuff like that since a very long time ago, and Maka trasured a small collection of postcards from all around the world, each one upholding that desperate lie of a grieving man... Sorry, mind spinning into tragic scenarios again :(
A fic I really love, and that has Joe as one of the main characters is "After Death" by SleepDeprivedFemale, really worth reading! Sadly, it's unfinished, last chapter published a while ago... but I'm still waiting for an update.

I feel the same! Those stories are great, love the characterization, the intrigue and the lovecraftian style. My favorite is "A Spider's Skull", sometimes I re-read it and think about different possibilities that could happen! Haha, now I imagine fanfics of the fanfics, maybe I'm reading too much fanfics ;D
Hfjsjfjf a spider’s skull was such an interesting concept lowkey. The cliffhanger ish situation we got left on makes me feral, like running around the walls and ceiling type gremlin. Liz’s reassurance and then bam wakey wakey. And yaa!! I love the lovecraftian style too, it’s such a fresh read after a bunch of soma romance (I don’t have anything against them, need variety ya know?)
I like when people remember the supernatural side of Kid’s grim reaper character, both as a concept and as an excuse to put him in horrible circumstances 😭🙏. What’s that one where he turned into a pincushion? Red skies? Didn’t he get decapitated in a spider’s skull? And also sawed in half by giriko? Tis another Tuesday for him I guess
Oh same except I skim a lot, read some, and then keep aggressively reread and obsess over those. FANFICS OF FANFICS IS SO REAL. I would totally do it if I had any writing skills at all, but it’s at a rather impressive zero so rip. Wow!! That sounds very interesting!! My mother tongue is Spanish, which has a bit of Arabic influence, but I've read that for Persian that influence was way larger and richer. Languages are fascinating! At some point, I considered becoming a linguist. I didn't, but still enjoy learning about the topic :D

Well, those things could totally happen even without writting fanfics!! Actually, they're more likely to happen if you ain't writing. Because, a day you spend relaxing at home, writing fanfiction with a cup of your favorite drink, is a day you're not risking going to the outside, and that significatively reduces the probability of an encounter with a bear or a car. Wouldn't feel so safe about sand tho, it can enter through the windows.

I read Red Skies! It was... quite disturbing. Saw the tags, but never imagined just how far things would get! It's undeniable that the story's incredibly thrilling, very creative, has amazing narrative and great characterization, but... the feelings were almost too much. I can't tell I enjoyed it, rather that I suffered it, like a nightmare. But I think that was the author's whole intention. Very successful, btw.
Yea, Red Skies is quite disturbing looking lol. I was about to shrivel up and then it pulled a “haha jk we’re back, careful what you wish for.” So at least it ended it off without destroying me. I read this after I originally tried to read Bet on Me, so it was refreshing. Still less frustration than the constant misunderstandings and hurt feelings in Bet on Me (I wasn’t built for romance fics)

Yeah! At some point, I did believe there wouldn't be a happy ending! The end was relieving, tho, and Kid remembering everything made sense in a way. I only read the first chapter of Bet on Me, very well written, but to be honest, I find the AUs devoid of the supernatural elements a bit boring.
There's a great fic focused mostly in Free and Eruka: "Requiem for the Wolfman" by egged_man, very worth reading!
Yeah, I usually feel the same about real life setting AUs. I just saw that kudos number and decided it give it a shot. Definitely well written, just not my cup of tea.
