    I imagined they would look slightly different, mostly because if the 12!turtles and the 18!turtles can, why not the Splinters? I see them having similar facial structures and features, enough to be noticeable but not to the point where your first thought is, "Oh, they're related." It also helps that the 12!turtles haven't seen their father as a human, sans the photograph, so they wouldn't make the connection right away
