    Molly, I suspect, has a kind of spider's-web awareness of where everyone and everything is in the Folly; if something twitches, she's on it. (God help any vermin that get into her kitchen: down the hatch in a flash. They never could break her of eating the blackbeetles.) I find her interesting as an intelligence with more-than-mortal powers who has channeled them all into a very narrow sphere – I'm curious as to whether Aaronovitch will ever let her out. She wasn't in this enough to rate the character tag, but she will be next time.

    The Latin is because of Peter speaking it at length in Amongst Our Weapons, which charmed me with the thought that they must practice at home. This time Nightingale would for preference have gone straight to English, but he wanted to acknowledge Peter's effort.

      Oh yes, Molly definitely has some kind of awareness of her domain. Obviously she and Foxglove have distinct abilities, but they clearly both have some variety of Presence that manifests differently. I like the idea that Molly’s gives her a sense of her environment—and I imagine she’s very attuned to Nightingale in particular after all these years.

      Oh, I’m adopting that headcanon! I love the idea that this is something he and Peter just Do, Now, and Nightingale’s desire to still do it even though something’s wrong is even more lovely with that context.

      Thanks again for writing, I hope it’s clear I enjoyed the first chapter tremendously.
