Summary
There was no response from Chara. Rather, the only response Charlie received was a soft snore. Charlie stared at Chara. Chara was sat straight up in the chair, head tilted a little to the side. His arms were folded across his chest. Charlie snorted. Chara looked like a stereotypical middle-aged father that said they wouldn’t fall asleep watching television.
Charlie lit up at that moment because a sudden idea had come to him. Every time he had fallen asleep somewhere that wasn’t the bed, Chara would always carry him to bed. Now that Chara had fallen asleep at the table instead of in bed, he wanted to carry him to bed.

Summary
Markström rolled his eyes but followed Edler into the kitchen. With the coffeepot brewing, Edler grabbed two mugs. Markström was handed a novelty mug with a Swedish flag design; Edler took a Vancouver Canucks novelty mug. At that moment, Edler chose to trace his finger over the tattoos peeking out under the sweater sleeve on Markström’s left arm. Smiling fondly, Markström shook his head at the dorkiness that is Alexander Edler.

Summary
“I’m not sure how to say this properly.” Vince bit his bottom lip as he looked at Sammy. Sammy tilted his head in confusion as he stared back. “The three words we normally say don’t feel like near enough right now because we say them too much.”
“Let’s forget everything we’re been told about love.” Vince exhaled shakily. Sammy squeezed Vince’s upper arm and ran his hand across it gently. Vince squeezed his eyes shut and exhaled shakily. He took a moment to compose himself before he continued to speak. “Before we get old, I want to see our garden burst to life.”
At that point, Sammy felt the tears fall down his cheeks. He took his free hand and wiped them away. Sammy let his thoughts wander at that point. They wandered to places of happiness and bliss. Places where he and Vince got to lift the Stanley Cup as a married couple. That made the tears fall harder because that had been a dream of Sammy’s since Vince proposed at the Cup party last summer.

Summary
The guy smiled awkwardly. “I like baking things for new people in the building. It gives me something to do when I’m not playing hockey.”
Cale took the pie and smiled.
“Hockey? I suppose the next thing you’re gonna tell me is that you play for the Avalanche.”
Cale placed the pie on the foyer table and looked at the guy intently.
The guy’s face turned a soft shade of pink as he pulled out his phone. He tapped on it a couple of times before he turned it to face Cale. Cale looked at what the guy wanted him to see and then looked up at the guy then back down at the phone. Cale did that a couple of times before he felt his face heating up.

Summary
As Morgan stuck his hand in the bag, Tessa nervously held her breath. She was fairly certain what Morgan would pull out first because she had arranged the contents of the bag to be pulled out in a specific order.
When Morgan’s hand came out of the bag with the smallest pair of skates she could find, Tessa released the breath she was holding. That had been the first item she had intended Morgan to grab.
“Tiny skates,” Morgan raised an eyebrow as he placed the aforementioned skates on the island. “Are we getting a puppy?”

Summary
When the bouquet connected with Chris’ hands, he blinked. Quinn quickly closed his hands, which made Chris close his hands in turn. Pulling his hands out of the air, Quinn handed Chris the flowers. Blushing, Chris ducked his head. Everyone around them was cheering Quinn’s name and congratulating him on catching the bouquet.
“You know what that means, right?” One of Chris’ aunts spoke up from beside him. “You’re going to be the next to get married!” She clasped Quinn on the shoulder, squeezing gently before walking toward the buffet table.

Summary
Leaning forward, Thomas lifted the lid off of the box. When he peered inside, he felt his heartbeat skip and stutter what felt like thirty times. Reaching in, he pulled out a golden retriever puppy. As he looked between the puppy and Pierre-Luc, he felt his eyes watering.
“Pierre-Luc…” Thomas trailed off, unsure of what to say to express how he was feeling.
Thomas squeezed the puppy close to his body. That’s when he felt it. A hard, jagged entity pressing into his ribcage. Pulling the puppy back, he saw a small box tied around her collar. Glancing quickly at Pierre-Luc, Thomas saw that he was smiling and wringing his hands together nervously.

Summary
Erik dropped his hands and raked one of them down his face. “Can I take you on a date to make it up to you?”
Samuel felt his heart skip a beat. He had been crushing on Erik for a long time. If he had known that all it would’ve taken to get a date was to get coned with a frisbee, he would’ve done it ages ago.
“Yes. Absolutely.”
Erik’s bright blue eyes glistened in the late August sunlight as he ruffled Samuel’s hair and smiled.

Summary
“What happened,” he asked, voice thick with confusion.
“Another nightmare,” Andrei said softly. He leaned down and kissed Dougie’s temple; it tasted salty from the sweat that had accumulated there.
“Fuck,” Dougie swore and ran a hand down his face. He looked at Andrei, eyes still glassy. “All I remember is that someone killed you and threatened to kill me.”
Cuddling up to Dougie, Andrei laid his head over the top of his boyfriend's quickening heartbeat. “I’m protect you. Nobody hurt you as long as I have breath in the body.”

Summary
Bringing his hand up to his face, Alex covered it. He felt a soft heat rising across his cheeks and the tips of his ears. He spread his fingers and looked at Jacob through the slats. He was smiling fondly and his eyes were showing signs of love and one too many beers.
“I want to take you to the edge of town and get on one knee,” Jacob continued, using his hand to move toward the direction of town he was speaking about. “I really want to change your autograph, Alexander.” He chuckled, running a hand through his hair.

Summary
About halfway up the walkway to the cottage, Max saw that Jakob had stopped and was holding his hands up defensively. He approached his best friend, placing a hand on Jakob’s shoulder. Jakob jumped what Max could’ve sworn was thirty-five feet out of his skin before he glared at Max.
“Careful,” Jakob hissed, slightly motioning his head in the direction of the cottage’s outdoor garbage bin.
When Max followed the motion, he froze and felt panic blooming throughout his body. A bear was rummaging around in the garbage. A substantially sized bear.

Summary
Once in the backyard, they found an ideal spot for the snowman under the tree in the back corner. Cale started rolling the snowball for the body while Ryan started rolling the snowball for the head. It took a few minutes but they managed to get the snowballs to the perfect size. Ryan stacked his on top of Cale's and gave his boyfriend a quick kiss. He handed Cale some sticks for the arms to which Cale smiled and stuck them into the body snowball. Ryan handed Cale a couple of stones for eyes. Cale smiled again and stuck the stones in the head snowball.
"Do you have anything for a nose?" Cale asked as he looked around at his feet.
"Here. Take this."

Summary
“Go on,” Morgan smiled as he gestured to the Switch. “It’s one of the levels that starts with Mario moving for you.”
“What el–” Tessa started but decided it would be best to play the level to find out for herself.
Tessa clicked to load the level and waited for the loading screens to play through. True to Morgan’s words, Mario started moving on his own. As he moved along the cloud conveyor belt, Tessa scanned the level design. The coins in the sky above Mario caught her attention because they appeared to be arranged into words. The conveyor moved fairly quickly but she had well enough reading skills that she could comprehend what the coins spelled out.
