But someone like him couldn't possibly know someone like that, he's Stede Bonnet for Gods sake, a cowardly, soft little man. Everyone knows it's a lie.
Then Blackbeard shows up.

Summary
"They're going to love you!" Says Stede for what must be the fifteenth time today. It does little to reassure Ed, as he puts on his fancy-people clothes in preparation to meet Stedes family.
Ed is already sweating through the pits of his shirt in his nervousness, but he has to do this. It's important to know Stedes family if he and Stede are going to be together. He can't avoid it just because he's afraid Stedes kids won't like him, and will use passive aggression on him. Or that Stede will see Ed sitting in his beautiful house next to his beautiful ex wife and realize that Ed doesn't compare, and he'll leave all over again.
