There is a necklace around the neck of Private Investigator Kudō Shinichi that he never removes. Its gem is always nestled neatly between his collarbones as if trying to permanently carve a space there for itself, gleaming an unsettling red that people swear feels warm to touch and pulses like a real, beating heart.
