Summary
Will Byers has spent years loving Mike Wheeler quietly. Now he has to learn how to survive it.
Summer of 1991 shattered everything when Mike's jealousy over Will's boyfriend Carlton turned cruel. Will fled Hawkins early, built walls at RISD, and ignored Mike's desperate calls and letters. But when Mike corners him in a Providence café in November, Will can't run anymore.
The confrontation is brutal and honest. Mike says Jane was real, but Will was gravity...the constant pull he tried to outrun. But confession isn't the same as forgiveness. Will has taught himself to love Mike less just to breathe.
When Mike asks for a real chance, Will doesn't know if he can trust someone who only figured out what he wanted after losing him.
A story about loving someone who loved you back but couldn't name it, and learning that sometimes protecting yourself means walking away from the person you've always wanted.

Summary
Rendered: to render is to make, to give, to surrender
Will Byers can make something extraordinary and then spend the next four years convincing himself it isn't.
Mike Wheeler has known Will since they were five years old. He has watched every version of him...the boy with the sketchbook, the cleric at the campaign table, the one who said yes to a school project that became something neither of them had words for. He has run out of patience for watching the person he loves most talk himself out of what he actually is.
The Morrow Gallery opens Saturday. The Party is coming to New York. And somewhere between a hotel room in Chelsea and a November afternoon with paint samples in Providence, Will Byers is going to have to reckon with the possibility that Mike has been right about him all along.
