Summary
Mike was used to tuning out most things related to Valentine’s day.
It wasn't necessarily that he hated the holiday, or anything — more that he didn't have a reason to pay attention to any of it.
All the hearts, and the ‘be mine’s in swirling cursive, and the cuddly stuffed bears in little bows didn’t mean much to a thirteen-year-old boy — especially when that boy was Mike.
Mike didn't really get the appeal.Mike doesn't hold much care for Valentine's day, and he never really has — but things change, slightly, when Mike is faced with the realization that Will hasn't gifted him the usual handmade card that he does every year.

Summary
“Will,” he started, “I shall devote myself to you.”
“What?” Will squawked, his voice cracking on the syllable, his eyes wide with disbelief.
“What?” Mike returned, his tone innocent as he batted his lashes, quite innocently indeed.
“Hells below,” Will muttered, putting aside his sketch to turn and face Mike.
Mike made an oath to Will as children. Through time, and through trials most unspeakable, he is determined to keep it.

Summary
He wanted someone to hold his hand and ask him if he wanted to go out on Valentine's just to revel in the free food and time spent together, even if the movies playing weren't great and the popcorn ended up burnt.
Not for lack of wanting it, Will did not have that.
And — much to both his relief and pain all at once — neither did Mike.
Mike, who — like Will — would likely be spending the day alone and bored out of his mind.
Starcourt Mall is offering a Valentine's Day discount for couples. Lucas, Max, Dustin, and El all have their dates — but where does that leave Mike and Will? Well, the obvious answer is (obviously) to fake-date for a day. You know, for the discount.
