Merlin is in the middle of the courtyard, facing the dragon that is flying just a few meters away from him. Arthur is about to yell at him. Is he an idiot?! Why doesn't he run?! But then he sees something that impresses him even more than the fire-breathing winged beast. Just after his servant says something in a language he doesn't understand, a spear that is lying on the ground flies and hits the Dragon.
The weapon bounces off the monster's scales without making any scratches, but that's the last thing Arthur can focus on right now. Magic… his servant just did…
“Don't think your petty magic can hurt me!” the dragon taunts and Arthur convinces himself that, maybe, he's losing his mind. The beast… did the beast just speak?

Magic reveal while the dragon was terrorizing Camelot, ends up in Merlin being kidnapped by said dragon and Arthur with the task to find the last dragonlord to save him.

“So, uh. Arthur is doing better-? Not like, healed better. But… The curse has stopped attacking him?” Merlin really tried to put as much nonchalance into his voice as possible, but Gaius knew him too well. More often than not, when Merlin did something to create problems for himself, he would leave out large parts of what had actually happened. Gaius raised his eyebrow to show Merlin he knew as much.
Finally giving up the act, he slumped down in his seat. “I kind of trapped Arthur’s soul in here with me,” he said weakly gesturing toward his head in defeat.
Gaius looked back at him with a special kind of fear. The one that came from having to hide something that could most definitely get you killed.
Pure exhaustion made his breath feel heavy as it left his lips. “He knows,” Merlin sighed, not even looking at Gaius as he confirmed his silent fear.
The cruel tone lacing Arthur’s voice only made him sink deeper. “Of course Gaius knew. After all, you’d need someone to strategize just how you could betray me best.” Merlin tried his best not to let Arthur’s hatred twist the knife buried in his heart any further.

“I don't need my staff.” Merlin mumbles it as he focuses on pulling his gloves onto his hands. Some part of him believes the more skin that he covers the less likely the world will steal from him, he does not know if it is true or not. He leans against the end of the bed, a smile on his face as he watches his husband dress himself. “And I do not believe I will be able to hold myself onto my horse, though I hate to say as much.”
Arthur hums, “You’ll ride with me then.” He straps his sword to his side and throws his cloak around his shoulders. “All the better for me to keep an eye on you.”
Merlin smiles and steps forward to take over, his hands shake faintly as he clasps his husband's cloak closed.
There is no expectation between them, no anger.
They dress each other in their respective armor with reverence, as if it were a form of worship.
