Summary
Post Scratch/ Alpha Timeline.
Dave remembers, but he doesn't understand.
(Subtle Dave/John, I wrote it as shippy, but it's really easy to read it as a friendship fic!)

Summary
Dave knows he is different. He knows why the other kids look at him funny. But none of that matters because he has John, even if he does wear silly blue pajamas.
John says that just because he's imaginary does not mean their friendship is imaginary. How could it be when Dave can feel it burning deep in the pit of his stomach? It's more real than anything he knows.
A story about post-scratch Dave and the boy who visits him in his dreams.

Summary
You were never supposed to remember.
This isn't how the game was supposed to work.
The Scratch is called a hard reset for a reason. It means starting over from square one with a clean slate. Memories don’t come with the package, or aren’t supposed to, but you guess the game made you some kind of special exception (hahaha hehehe), because you remember. You remember everything, and you don’t know what to think.
Except that something must have gone terribly wrong.
Part II: You chase the meteor like it's a falling star.

"It's a fairly stupid nickname that's not even phonetically similar to my name," Broderick replies mildly. "And no, that's not an invitation to start calling me 'Brah' instead."

Summary
They have a strange relationship. You cross your arms and stand in the doorway while your father scratches his head over the broken passengers’ side window of his Buick. Dave also arrives one day having borrowed the Corvette, drenched from head to toe, and the interior growing puddles all over. While you try to form the words to demand an explanation he flicks a cigarette to your feet and trudges off with his hands in his pockets.
“I know you’re fond of him,” you tell your father after dinner, over dishes, “but he seems a bit dangerous to me. A delinquent.”
“He’s just troubled,” he says, and puts his broad hand on your shoulder. “Don’t worry so much.”

Summary
He’s a weird old guy. Some sort of old school funny man or some shit. Charlie Chaplin of the 60’s, that’s John Crocker. He doesn’t really get your jokes, all wrapped up in layers of irony like a Dave Strider onion, but he appreciates it as a fellow comedian you fucking guess. He’s no Daddy Warbucks to your Little Orphan Annie but he buys you lunch and takes your script and hands it to the right people, typed and in a pretty envelope, and in order to take the forward payment he has to bring you to the bank to get an account.

How do you even miss a person you never even met before.
That’s stupid.
And why the fuck does your brother’s best friend looks exactly like him?
That’s even stupider.

Summary
The main difference between Jake and John, you think, is that you cannot argue with Jake’s existence. Jake sits before you, bouncing a little on the couch while Bro throws an Xbox remote in his lap, while John floats somewhere in the back of your mind, half a dream and even less a memory; if he is a memory at all.
