After the events of Camp 98.7 unfolded, by the insistent persuasion of N, Uzi decided to put a hiatus on her rampant solver-unsolving goal and just give her processor a break to recover from the traumatic events. And to make Uzi feel a little less alone one night, N swung by for a surprise sleepover (much to the dismay of Khan) and the two indulged in fun sleepover-y activities before peacefully falling offline together.
But – and this is where things get weird – then she woke up, greeted by the sight of *not* her best-friend-and-totally-not-crush but three wholly unfamiliar butler-esque worker drones standing cluelessly in her bedroom. Asking questions like “Where’s the humans? When’s the Gala? Why is this mansion so small and metallic?”
Yet the strangest thing is how these drones claim to be “N, J, and V”, and– And wait. who- who is that drone with a glitched voicebox??? huh??

If there was one actual gift Corporate had given them, it was that they couldn’t remember what humans actually looked like, not even Tessa; so J could pretend the skin Cyn wore was just some nameless organic jackass she had decided she liked the look of. Or that she’d even grown it herself with her disgusting, hideous supernatural powers.
The denial never lasted long when she had to be in close contact with Corporate, and once it stopped working things got… well they got bad.
But J has endured everything Cyn's rotten, vindictive core could throw at her, what else does she have to lose?

Excellent short fic. Focuses alot on J's hesdspace but my favourite part is her dynamic with V & N in the second part. I do love when a fic let's N be a bit perceptive and their lighter dynamic here feels truer to the show.

Something she told herself as the hungry whisper pawed at her circuits until she couldn't take it anymore, something she forgot as she tore back the earth and sky, but could still rear its head in unexpected ways.

Cyn's interactions with Tessa and the other drones after she ate Earth, every chapter made me feel an immense amount of sadness and dread (very much in line with the vibes of the show), does a great job managing the complex relationships between them and balancing Cyn with the Solver
