She was a true representation of the Empire: refined, enduring, and immortal.
And yet on the eighteenth day of the Month of Earth, a dagger is plunged deep into Jessamine's heart. She bleeds out in the arms of her last protector, the eternal empire she represented begins to die with her.

Anton looked at the drawings and they are indeed of the beetles. Each different species drawn in detail, with small arrows pointing at some of the defining features. On the side of the paper there were formulae that Anton could recognize as formulae used for calculating flight speed and wind resistance, but they were somewhat half-finished and some of them corrected or scratched over multiple times.

Anton snorts. “All those years trying to breach the Void’s mysteries must’ve caught up with me,” he speculates. “Or perhaps this is merely the Outsider’s twisted idea of amusement.”
Corvo wouldn’t put it past the Outsider, if he’s honest. But he has a different theory. “Or maybe Jessamine wanted to have a chance to speak with you, one last time.”
