They were changing. Inside this dollhouse, this prison, this purgatory; metaphors that never would or could have occurred to him the first time he found all his coworkers were gone and wondered what it could mean. He could feel it. Both of them had grown beyond the scripts, then beyond the scripts that only pretended to allow for that growth.
Of course, The Narrator would refuse to see it. The being didn’t even realize there were other presences that could alter his precious game. Getting him to acknowledge the changes neither of them could have predicted would be impossible.
And so through reset after reset, ending after ending, he held onto what he knew and dreamed of a way to do something about it.

Summary
It’s the early 2000s and the rivalry between Black Mesa and Aperture Science is at its peak. Several operatives have been deployed from both companies in an effort to steal valuable information. When a mysterious man approaches the newly-appointed CEO of Aperture, Caroline Johnson and offers her the opportunity to infiltrate Black Mesa, she gladly accepts. Her mission is personal- Black Mesa has taken everything from her, including a close friend. She successfully infiltrates the rival facility with the help of Lauren, a feisty young operative, but they soon discover that the secrets they’re trying to steal may have heavy, and even deadly, repercussions if revealed.
Meanwhile, Alyx Vance has been sent to Aperture on a similar mission. She and her partner, physicist Gordon Freeman, must unravel the secrets of Aperture’s portal technology. But they, too, soon find themselves in a complex, potentially dangerous situation. As things unravel at both companies, it becomes clear to everyone involved that the world as they know it is in jeopardy- but who will strike the final blow?

The A Trusted Friend in Science series is an ongoing set of stories beginning with the Research Module’s first explorations into the facility: “The Music of the Spheres”, the introductory story. It continues as the now sentient androids that have become her family, band together to fight The Controller, the low-level facility computer that has threatened to overthrow GLaDOS and take over Aperture Science: “A Trusted Friend in Science“.
The latest entry into the series is “Music of the Spheres 2: Incendiary Lemons”, the next transitional short series that will lead into the next novel. After the events of “A Trusted Friend in Science“, Tenacity faces an unknown future. With only the Fact Core, Vincent, at his side, he plans to return to the Sanctum, unsure of his position within the facility.
GLaDOS calls Adrien, Lily and Alistair to task for the explosion in the subbasement, and demands to see Tenacity.

A alternate universe where Stanley works under the Curator for Aperture Science in City 17. Due to lawsuits, they were required to provide health services to their employees. Because of this, Stanley finds himself seeing a Psychologist by the name of Doctor Henry Bright. Together they experiment with his new found psychology to find Stanleys sense of purpose, wholeness and individuality through confrontation with his subconsciousness. Little does Stanley know, the sessions narrated by this man would open up a whole new world.

A claw picks the thing up, dropping down from the ceiling to do so, and holds it in front of the boy.
He fucked up.
“Hm… oh,” if it were possible, Tommy swears Dream’s voice laces with a further note of glee, and he fucking laughs like it’s a fucking funny joke that Tommy messed up, “you know what this is, Tommy?”
Dream speaks coldly, coolly, and Tommy shakes his head.
“This is a morality core. You know, the thing that prevents me from… more heinous acts. Except, you just broke it, removed it, the one thing keeping you safe,” Dream throws it to the side, metal frame breaking further.
The claw reaches for Tommy; he scrambles back, frantic, even as it grabs his ankle.
