"He stood up, breaking away from the man, grabbing his glass. He refused to look at him, facing away from him, but it was already obvious, and it was strange to see Sakharine’s face in a pitying expression in the corner of his eyes. He was mocking him, wasn’t he? He always was.
The reporter stumbled drowsily to the man’s side of the bed where the whiskey decanter was on his bedside table. He needed to be a little bit drunker to handle these feelings and being around this man, and he poured himself another glass without a second’s hesitation. He’d seen the captain do it several times when he wasn’t drinking straight from the bottle, and in this moment, he finally understood why the man touched the stuff in the first place, even if the former could handle it better than him.
It was a numbing warmth, and a fire he didn’t care about in his stomach. He squinted at the aristocrat over the glass, who was bizarrely surprised and speechless kneeling on the bed, observing this behaviour.
Tintin grimaced in his direction as he swallowed some of it down, looking far more visibly displeased at him.
“What the fuck are you looking at?”"

The people who knew him were no stranger to him getting knocked out over the head, but getting up and shaking off any restraints was a part of his facade. The young reporter was almost world famous. He was his own protagonist who lived through gunfire.
... But at the end of the day it is night and the Unicorn search leaves Tintin feverish and tended to by people who have become close to him.

The last thing he needs is another war. Yet the radios still scream that the bombs will fall again and the world will be turned into a nuclear battlefield. To Tintin, however, the bombs still fall in Antwerp.
I.e. Tintin has trauma from World War II and he has to learn to let it go
