Summary
Leo Valdez could build all the most impressive gizmos and gadgets in the world but that wouldn’t be enough.
All he needed was one friend. One person. His person, who would listen when he was sad, who wouldn’t undermine his actual skill, who wouldn’t say he was childish and dumb and appreciate him for him. It was hard enough reminding himself he had any talent at all, especially when his own friends overlooked it all the time. He had talents though, he had a use, a purpose. Right? He did, right? He wasn't useless. Right?
Why couldn't he just feel okay? His friends seemed fine. Why wasn't he? When was it Leo’s turn to feel okay? Or did he just play the joker card for the rest of his life?
He spent more nights asleep in the engine room, while his friends snuck into each other rooms to have mini sleepovers or talk about their problems, he just curled up into a ball in the corner of the engine room and tried not to cry too loudly.
That wasn’t hard. He’d conditioned his sobs to be as quiet. The only time Leo Valdez was ever quiet was when he cried.

Days on Argo II are long, but Leo finds himself spending most of that time in the engine room, or his workshop. It's easier for him that way. Work gets done, and he doesn't have to spend time with the others. Not that he doesn't like them, but he'd rather avoid running into him. The less he sees him, the less he has to pretend his heart doesn't do olympic level gymnast every time he enters the room.
But what happens, when one day, he wakes up coughing blood and flower petals?

She looked around, taking in the bed, neatly made. She looked at the desk, Daedalus's laptop sitting carefully atop it. A twinge of relief hit her. Evidently it hadn't been lost in the fall. A hairbrush lay on the sink, and her dresser drawers were all closed. No doubt if she opened them she would see her clothing, neatly folded and organized.
Overall, everything looked so... normal.
Normal.
Something about the word made her choke. Because this wasn't normal. None of it was.

‘A couple days' drive. Meet Baby outside in an hour?’ Dean asked, standing up and brushing non-existent dust from his jeans.
Sam blinked. ‘Oh. You wanna leave like now? Alright, let’s go then.’ He watched Dean walk away and sighed. The man was struggling. Between Castiel’s absence, and a lack of hunting, he’d been practically twitching for the last two weeks. Hopefully a case would bring him back, especially this one. If there were two things that Dean excelled at, they were hunting, and becoming a temporary father figure to wayward kids.-
