After the interview in s1ep5, Louis is shaken and desperate after reliving the horrifying loss of control that he felt when he was beaten by Lestat. Armand, suffering the emotional repercussions of his masquerade as Rashid, is dealing with reminders of his trauma when being humiliated as a servant brings up repressed memories. Louis requires Armand to fulfill his duties to him as Rashid when he is most in need of a vessel to unleash the helplessness and anger he feels. Armand is eager to serve.

Perhaps Armand had pushed their activities a little enthusiastically and he’d been falling asleep or taking a variety of substances to artificially energize himself. There had been more discontent lately, more drinking, more experimentation with substances in a way that suggested it was not necessarily for pleasure or energy but for escapism.
Daniel is missing from the flat and Armand has a minor crisis about it.
