“I need to take off your shirt. Do you think you can sit up for me?” He really didn't want to make him move, but things would go much more smoothly that way. “At least long enough to get it off, then you can lay back down, I promise.”
“Okay, but only because you promise,” Merlin never expected such a cheeky answer from him in this state, but Arthur rose up. It was a slow process, but he made it with Merlin's help.
He was unsteady, and he looked to Merlin like he was his one and only guide. His gaze told Merlin that he was listening, watching, and waiting. Waiting to do whatever Merlin told him to do. Which was so unfathomably unlike Arthur.
*I've made the smallest edit here, I just lengthened the scene where Arthur gets slapped a little. I had a scene in my head that I couldn't get out, but it wasn't enough to make a whole second fic for*

“Run!” Merlin's voice cracked.
The man sheathed his sword and ran to Merlin, giving him a quick glance over.
“Are you alright?”
“Yes! We have to run!”
The creature was screeching up a storm behind them as they booked it through the trees until they thought they were probably far away enough that it hadn’t chased them. Merlin cared less about the distance and was just grateful they had stopped because his lungs were burning. Arthur was right, he thought ruefully. He did need to work on his stamina.
Once he caught his breath again, he studied his new companion. This man had to have been either very stupid or very brave to try and save him from whatever that creature was back there. He was much less affected by the running than Merlin was. He had curly, brown hair, tanned skin and was wearing trousers and a loose, grey coloured t-shirt. His belt had a spot for him to put his naked sword. He held out his hand.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Lancelot.”
