    Or, Omegaverse AU where potential mates bite near someone’s neck to see if they are compatible. Willingly biting the other will create a mating bond. Sadly, unless mated, alphas go feral for periods until they lose all sense of self, needing to be put down.

    The suitors wait for the Queen of Ithaca's bond mark to disappear, however they're getting restless. Meanwhile, Telemachus takes it upon himself as the only other royal omega to distract 108 men with the prospect of being his mate. None had succeeded until one alpha managed to leave their mark. Literally.

    After years of searching, Antinous had given up on finding a compatible mate. He doubted the Queen was any different, but he was willing to do unspeakable things for his self-interest. If everything went according to plan then the throne would be his and he wouldn't have to worry about whether the next time he went feral would be his last.

    Perhaps this was some sort of battle related trauma. Diomedes ended up sitting down besides Odysseus and let his shoulder bump against the sullen King. “Talk to me, friend.”

    “...About what?”

    “What’s going on? Polites is concerned, so are your men. Was it the blood? Or the men who fell? Rest assured, friend, none of yours fell today.”

    “Do you think King Sisyphus fights against his punishment? Do you think the Fates would allow him, if he did?”

    Flinching, Diomedes observed the change in Odysseus’ eyes. Instead of the colour of the sea, Odysseus’ eyes were taken over by a hue of red– only noticeable when observed in a certain angle but definitely present. Diomedes knew what caused a hue of red like that.

    Odysseus had been touched by Ares’ Rage.

His son was just an infant, but Odysseus realized that even if he were of rational age, he couldn’t possibly understand what he was saying. The child didn't know what existed beyond the idyllic, gilded shores of Ogygia. He didn't know of smiling people, and kingdoms, and war. The glittering isle had consumed the entirety of his life. Odysseus felt his grip around him tighten.

Now Diomedes did not know if the king would ever stand the way they used to be, but right now it felt like a worthy trade.

He didn't have the greatest track record of that back home. Telemachus seemed happy to have a friend in the palace and the queen looked at him with knowing eyes. What she knew, Percy wasn't sure but she definetly knew something. With Athena at Telemachus' side and Apollo following Percy around, this new land was shaping up to be very different than his own.
