    Link wakes up in a strange place. He is drowning in grief. He cannot remember who or what he is mourning, but it hurts all the same. A dark castle looms in the distance. It is drenched in evil, but a golden light breaks through the eye of the storm. Link will do whatever it takes to keep that light from going out.
    This will be the final fight between the God of Power and the Man of Courage. No more reincarnations, no more second chances. Link has lived far too many lives and he is ready to end this. The Calamity is determined to break the unbreakable spirit of the Hero once and for all. The legend that is as old as time itself is finally coming to an end.

    This is a darker reimagining of Breath of the Wild. There will be some light moments but this is meant to be a lot heavier than the original game. I adjusted certain aspects for storytelling purposes. If you notice something that does not match up with the game it is intentional.

It fails... but has an unexpected consequence. Link, Zelda, and Impa now remember all of their lives, and how they've fought the same battle over and over. And they're over it. They're ending the cycle. Now.

    Will include: Link taking no shit from Revali, Impa greatly relaxing her stance of propriety and tradition, and Zelda remembering how much fun her other lives could have.

    Oh, and the characters of Breath of the Wild/Age of Calamity dealing with a Link, Zelda, and Impa who are officially done following the rules.

What he did not expect was the extraordinary and all-consuming adventure that came to be.

    And it all began with the words, "Oh, Link. I'm home."

    (Or, Link finally starts to realise how he feels about Zelda after she returns from what he assumed would be an eternal fate as a dragon. Brave enough to save Hyrule (twice), but not enough to confront his feelings head-on.)

    As a loyal Yiga footsoldier and Blademaster hopeful, Jozah was thoroughly acquainted with descriptions of his clan’s most bitter enemy: the hero’s pathetic height, beady eyes, and twisted scowl. Yes, Link’s appearance was well-known by even the lowliest of Yiga soldiers, designed to be identified and attacked on the spot should they ever encounter the scoundrel.

    What hadn’t come up in Yiga training was the golden shimmer of Link’s hair - like captured sunlight - or the way it framed sharp cheekbones and a strong jaw. And wow, those eyes were really blue; they practically put sapphires to shame.

    The hero was regarding him quizzically, eyebrow raised and lips pursed. Jozah swallowed thickly.


    In which an ambitious Yiga footsoldier guns for a promotion, only to face his greatest challenge yet - annoyingly attractive adversaries.

    When Zelda's power awakens, it damages her. Instead of Link being sealed in the Shrine of Ressurection, Zelda is, and Link has to seal Ganon alone.

    “SHE DIED IN MY ARMS!” 

    Something flares around Link as he roars and everyone is shocked into silence by the normally quiet man’s outburst. Uncomfortably reminded that this is The Hero, the man who wades through hordes of monsters like it’s nothing and has bested grown men in sword fights since childhood.
    And he is angry.
    “Her heart stopped beating twice, Impa,” Link’s voice is quiet in the aftermath of his outburst “I watched her die twice on the way here and had to restart her heart.”

    Silence reigns as the elders realize just how close Zelda is to death.

    “I won’t let it happen again.”
     Link’s expression is hard as steel as he stares down Impa and the sheikah elders and for once pulls rank, quietly ordering, “Get her to the shrine.”

    For a moment he thinks the sheikah matriarch will refuse, but she nods, something like understanding in her eyes, “As you say, Hero.”

    Zelda cannot allow life to go back to 'business as usual'. She never expected to have this chance, and will not waste it.

    When Link lets slip that part of her original plan to help him from the distant past went awry, she latches onto it and pulls Link along for the ride. In the end, Zelda gets much more than what she bargained for and finds herself trapped with Link in an unknown land filled with strange people and no clear way to get home.

    Well, maybe while searching for a way home, and dealing with the problems of this strange Kingdom of Hallownest, they'll finally manage to get that quality time she had been hoping for.
