The silence that followed was deafening.

Chained up. Arms suspended, wrists raw where the restraints bit into his skin. His kevlar vest had been torn away, discarded like a useless scrap of fabric. His body was a canvas of brutality—bruises blooming dark against his skin, fresh cuts carved into old scars. Blood smeared across his torso, trickling from wounds that hadn’t been given the chance to clot.
His helmet was fractured, splintered and cracked along the side, but still mostly intact. They hadn’t been able to bypass its security measures—hadn’t been able to strip him of the last line of defense that kept his identity safe.
