She looks over her shoulder. Staring into the eyes of the bleeding imp. She sees how her father clings to the other man. The desperation in his eyes. She remembers how her father always seemed happy those mornings after the full moon each month. She sees how Blitzo’s arm is thrown in front of Stolas, like a shield even through his pain.
Her mother would never go to such lengths to protect anyone but herself.
As her eyes lock with Blitzø’s gold, shining ones, a mutual understanding flows between them. Octavia never liked Blitzø much, hated him even. But she wasn’t letting him fade, she couldn’t do that to her father.
“Let him go, mother. He doesn’t deserve to die.”

Blitzø tries to break into the palace after Sinsmas in a desperate attempt to get Octavia to hear Stolas out. He can’t stand seeing Stolas so heartbroken and feels like it’s the only thing he can do.Everything quickly goes south when Stella and her jackass brother find him.

This is a purely self-indulgent fluff piece that is a direct continuation of The Mortifying Ordeal of Staying; you should probably read that first for context, but this can be read as post-getting-together fluff as well. I decided to keep this as a separate fic because I really like the ending to TMOS, and I don't want to ruin it by adding another chapter. Also, this fic is entirely fluff, and that one is Not.

He had fulfilled his purpose. His daughter, his father’s precautionary heir, was finally 18. She was safe, and beautiful and brilliant and would do perfectly in his place once he was gone. Blitzø had the means to run his business without any further help from Stolas. Stella has long since moved to one of their other properties and Stolas knew she would be happy with him gone.
A small smile found its way to his face as his heart felt at ease in a way it never had before. Finally, for the first time in his life he could be selfish. He would get to make a decision that was entirely his own, he may have had no say in his life but he would be able to decide how it ended.

Summary

“Do you know anything about how my husband and daughters are doing?”, asked Stolas, trying his best not to let his voice betray how anxious he was for the answer. When he’d left his personal wing of the palace this morning, Via had shown all signs of having caught the cold that Loona had brought with her from pre school. He’d nearly not gone at all, but Blitz had assured him that it was alright and that he would handle everything and pleaded with Stolas not to worry his pretty head.
The servant paused in his struggle to balance the amount of paper in his arms, raising his eyes towards Stolas in apparent contemplation, as if he considered how to best word the information requested from him.
”From what I’ve heard, the princesses are doing just fine…” The hesitation in his voice did nothing to ease Stolas’ worries. “The honourable consort however…”
Or: Blitz and Stolas are married and living in the palace, Via and Loona are their little daughters and Blitz, of course, is being a bit of an idiot but they talk about it and all is well in the end again. And that’s pretty much it…
