For their three-year YouTube anniversary, Banana and Bread—faceless Minecraft creators known for chaotic edits and scuffed audio—decide to host their first-ever livestream from Banana’s basement. The plan is simple: Minecraft, Q&A, and letting chat celebrate with them.
The reality? Pure chaos.
They start the stream seated on the basement floor, sharing a single PC setup (Banana on keyboard, Bread on mouse) while reading chat on Bread’s phone. As nerves settle, they banter with viewers about scuffed equipment, dodge personal questions with humor, and jokingly claim they’re “married to Minecraft.” It’s all fun—until a chat donation dares them to read the top Banana&Bread fanfic on AO3. They don’t even know what AO3 is, but curiosity (and chat peer pressure) wins.
They expect cringe. Instead, the fic feels a little too accurate, catching their chaotic warmth, layered banter, and something unspoken between them. Bread laughs it off, Banana roasts it, but neither can fully shake how close it feels to home.

For context in B&B's 4th smp video dyes Bread Banana's stuff red to mess with him, he called it "the reddening" and I thought "hey, wouldn't it be fun if the reddening was like some religious psychosis thing where Bread loses his grip of reality and believes some entity called 'the red' is telling him to make everything red and does so but starts to get really violent because Banana is getting annoyed at his weird obsessive behaviour and keeps changing back all the stuff and ends up gouging his eyes out so he can't stop him and use creatures blood to dye everything red?"
So here we are, B&B skins AU lore, this is set inside the Minecraft universe without the humans behind it so basically just two characters in a universal where Minecraft is real life and basically goes a little coo-coo 🥹❤️
3rd thing, they're basically humans but just inside a video game that isn't blocky anymore… just real life but as Minecraft, i guess?

Bread never really initiated, to be frank. Known as the gay kid since before high school taught him a lot about being in relationships with boys who wore crosses around their necks, boys who had bibles in their gloveboxes, boys who'd leave him on the flick of a wrist. "Experimenting" became a word that haunted Bread's night terrors often.
