Summary
The only thing Apollo knew for certain was that it was not supposed to happen like this. Yes, he was a mortal, without access to his domain of prophecy, but he had been the god of them for too long to not recognize such blatant divergence.
It was supposed to be impossible- almost. There should have been a slim chance of survival- which he, of course, would have taken advantage of.
But it didn’t happen that way.
The problem was Commodus’ incompetence. Had he given the other emperors the impression that he could handle his ex, in any way or form, they would have simply let him try. Except, he hadn’t given them that impression. And so, when Commodus called in the appearance of Apollo, the closest emperor showed up to keep an eye on things.

Toward the beginning of 'The Tyrant's Tomb,' Lester!Apollo launches into an epic recap/eulogy ballad that is not written out IN the book (because it IS, basically, all recap), but is described in such a way that I, a writer but not a poet, said, "That would be fun to write out properly!"
Says I. A non-poet. About a ballad written by the God of Poetry.
But, after a year of chipping away at it, I finally have something ostensibly complete, so please applaud my efforts.

Summary
Nico's been having nightmares for weeks about Jason's death. When Apollo, Meg, and Peaches show up at Camp Halfblood with the news of Jason's passing, Nico has a complete breakdown. Jason had been the first person to learn his big secret, the first person to give him support, and now he's gone. He didn't deserve to die. Nico can't fucking take it. He runs off into the woods to be alone and completely terrifies Will in the process.
Check tags for trigger warnings! I sent this to my therapist and she said "wow, you really don't pull your punches do you?"
I wrote this because I can't stand waiting MONTHS more for the Nico/Will book and I'm still sad that we didn't get to see a lot of Nico's reaction to the news and PJO has been a long time special interest! (I've been reading some Mark Oshiro tho since they're cowriting the upcoming book with uncle Rick. Highly recommend Anger is a Gift. It's a rough, gutwrenching read but fantastic.)
