Desperation. It'd make you do things you'd thought incapable of yourself. Fear and anxiety drills and spills out from the frontier of your brain-- all rationale is hazardly thrown out the imaginary window, animal following instinct. Your judgment falls; ticks. Consequently, you make choices you don't usually make, say things not normally said. Can you truly be blamed for simple desperation?

Dr. W.D Gaster is bone-tired, to put it plainly. He can sense it deep within his marrow, decreasing his already dubious will to live. Not that he had any to begin with. Too many coffee cups complicate his work desk, paperwork overwhelms the surface. Everything feels out of place-messy-imperfect.
The clock on his computer screen reads 1:55 AM. He sighs quiet-soft, his boney hands scrape and nudge at his skull-head. He should just go home...yet there's so much work to be done.
He has a plan, an idea that could greatly improve monsterkind's chances if he has the willpower. He can't rest now. He will not fail them.

Summary
Monsters arrived to the surface and have been successfully integrated into human society. You are the daughter of Michael Verlin, the Governor of Ebott, and going to college in another city. Everything is fine until your father begins to receive emails and phone calls filled with your personal information and location, threatening to have you killed. Despite your annoyance at having to return home you make the best of it as you meet the queen of Monsters and her lieutenant who appears to have a distaste for humans, or more specifically you.
Despite his attitude and your annoyance, when you meet his gaze you find yourself drawn in and unable to look away.
It wouldn't hurt to to talk to him, right?

It was a normal pacifist route, somewhere in the middle. They weren't on the surface yet, but the human had met practically everyone there is to meet by now.
The “player” had left. Probably got bored, since they've already gone through all that undertale has to offer. This left the human to, without the player, enjoy the underground on their own. Since this is a fanfic, they can exist without the player, beyond what's in the actual game.
The middle of a pacifist run. It's peaceful. Everyone's happy. It's not like anyone knows about the... not so pacifist timelines. Right?

It's not really a city.
Ebott is a town located near South Twin in the White Mountains, A population of about 7,500. Winter season brings that number up to 12,000.
Did I mention this includes Humans and Monsters?
Ebott is a center of Human and Monster culture and tradition. It was after all, the place where Monsters were first spotted on the surface. Everyone greeted them with loving arms.
Go a bit further south, and not everybody is accepting of this race.You are a female human who grew up in Hampton, right on the beach. You moved to Ebott in 2016 after an accident involving a Cessna killed both of your parents. You were 18 at the time, about to graduate. You planned to move up to Ebott anyway, as the mountain air was so much better than living on a crowded coastal area.
When monsters came out of the mountain in 2019, you didn't know what to expect.

Kkeulhda is a strange skeleton.A skeleton,using magic as any other,but has thin skin covering their bones.No lungs,no organs to be seen or known of.They can't be a lich,those have much different attributes than they do,where their abilites are just like any other skeleton.Yet,due to their magical birth defect,their magic can fritz when too emotionally or physically stressed,moreso the latter,and can give them an asthma attack,each varying in severity.
Sans is their assistant,literally,in just about everything.He....he's more like a caring caretaker,as well as a assistant,therapist and psychologist all in one.
They're lucky to have him,they truly are.
