When Cid’s gloved hands close around her upper arms, Benedikta’s vision flashes white. His hands are the hands of her master — of the bandits in the forest. The fiery hands that have yanked her Eikon out of her body. Her heart leaps into her throat at the invasion.
“Do not,” she growls, “touch me!”
“I’m- I’d like to help you, Benedikta.”
“Don’t touch me! Don’t touch me! Don’t—” Her shriek is brief, like the single blow of a buisine, before it loses all volume and becomes a desperate wheeze. Cid flinches away from her, and she’s only conscious long enough to see her former Lord Commander get back to his feet before she slips under again.

Sometime during the night, their positions shifted. Clive faces Cid now, the other man snoring softly, breath sleep-sour and padding under his nose. In fact, it’s impossible to not look at Cid, because the man has somehow ended up half atop him, with Clive’s thigh wedged between his legs. If he moves even the slightest bit, the man will surely jolt awake.
And of course, Clive’s hard, because he fell asleep next to Cidolfus Telamon and the man is so achingly, incredibly handsome that Clive sometimes wants to crawl out of his own skin with want.
