Chip thinks about it. "Me and Igneous? Nah, I'd rather get married to you instead."
Chip was joking when he proposed, but Gillion is serious when he accepts. The two of them confront the feelings they've always had for each other, start a relationship, and get married, all before it'll end in the hole in the sea.

After coming back from the R.A.F.T. compound, Jay discovers that her and her sister Ava were at the center of their own prophecy and the reason why her sister was killed. Having now all of her grief and anger in the forefront so suddenly, Jay struggles with how to deal with them while stuck on a ship in the bleakest sea she has ever been in. Getting a new magical ability in the middle of it all doesn't help.
Or Jay is struggling a lot. Chip, Gillion and the rest of the Riptide pirates try to help. It still isn't easy.

“Gillion?” He squints at where Jay is standing, fiery red hair glinting in the sun. She picks her way down the slope quickly, loose stones cascading down from where she dislodges them. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” he promises. He’s had worse. Even if his vision feels slightly blurry and his head is pounding.
