Summary

From a simple orphan to the heir of two eminent lineages, he has to deal with the mistakes of the past, challenging his beliefs in this quest for justice.
The dangers come from all sides, even those he used to think as safe. In the end, he realizes that the life he has dreamed for comes with a lot of pain, something his mind is eventually ready to accept, his heart not so much. It shapes the shinobi he will become, praised by his peers as long as his actions benefit them all.
When they don’t, all he has fought for crumbles, and Sakumo has to bear the hypocrisy of the village he has sacrificed so much for. Despite everything, he still fights for those who despise him, a task harder as the days go by, when life has lost all its sense.

I've always found it strange that the Organization never named a Number 1 between Teresa's death and the arrival of Alicia and Beth. We know the twins weren't truly combat-ready after Teresa was gone and they only really appear at the end of the story. That's why I wanted to explore the "why" and the "what if."
This story follows blue-eyed Lysia, a Claymore of the 78th generation, training alongside Galatea. We will witness their journey from apprentices to warriors and, eventually, to traitors. The Organization tried something new with her, and we will see how this experiment impacts her and the lore.

Warning: This is a bit different from my usual works, both in subject matter and writing style. If the topics mentioned in the tags are ones you DO NOT want to read about, do not read this fic. There is a reason this is rated Mature; the rating may change at some point, but that'll be after the fic is done. This will mostly be taking place from the first time Leanbow is freed from his brainwashing in the Heir Apparent 2-parter through some of the post-season. It will also be primarily from Leanbow's POV, though not in first person outside of his thoughts. While I address some of what I'm talking about here in Runaway Power Ranger, I don't go into it all that much and it was in the writing of that fic that I first started to consider just what the aftereffects would be, especially for someone like Leanbow, who was under said mind control for nearly 2 decades. From there, I started to formulate the plot and how I was going to write it.
Some lines will be directly lifted from the relevant episodes, starting with the Heir Apparent part 1.
Because of the subject matter, commenting will be limited to registered guests, at least for now; that may change in the future.

Ann doesn’t stop, just pulls out her keys and fumbles with the lock, jaw set tight. Catherine huffs out a breath, frustration curling hot in her gut, and strides up behind her, reaching out to catch Ann’s wrist before she can push the door open.
“Would you just talk to me?” Catherine snaps, her voice sharper than she intended.
Ann whirls around, eyes flashing with something fierce and wounded all at once. “Jesus, why do you care?”
The question makes Catherine stop short, like she’s been punched in the chest. “What?”
Ann huffs, shaking her head, her expression twisting into something bitter. “Forget it.”
She tries to turn back to the door, but Catherine doesn’t let go, keeping her grip on Ann’s wrist firm but not tight. “Ann.”
Ann goes still, and for a moment, they just stand there, inches apart, Catherine’s hand on her wrist like a tether holding her in place. Ann’s breathing is uneven, her eyes fixed on the ground, and Catherine can feel the way she’s trembling, just faintly.
