Summary
Fate played all of its cruel cards when it came to the life of James Shepard. From a young age, he experienced death and slaughter on Mindoir losing all of his friends and family only to be saved by a passing Alliance patrol which he enlisted years later. During a seemingly normal mission, he survived being hunted by a thresher maw on Akuze on sheer will alone while his teammates perished, an event that only helped fractured his broken mind even more. Now Fate deals with its last card when he is assigned to an experimental ship and tasked to recover a Prothean beacon that would soon become the overture to the inevitable Reaper War.

"Yeah sure, I'll believe that when I see it," he snipped, fiddling with the controls in front of him.
"You know what? Fine. I'll prove to all of you idiots that your commander can dance. We still have a couple hours before we need to be under way, tell everyone to assemble in the cargo bay in fifteen." With that, she turned and headed for the stairs, paying no mind to a very nonplussed Joker staring at her back.
