Aldo sighs, a long laboured noise. His hands dart up again to his glasses although they remain firmly in place. “You asked us once,” he finally says, “what we knew of war. A good question, Your Holiness, yet I cannot help but wonder what you know of Thomas Lawrence.”
I understand that he is no longer yours, Vincent thinks. He is your friend, and I have no intention of standing between you, but you cannot sink your teeth into him and growl whenever another comes near. Not anymore.
