“Right.” Essek inhales, worrying a fang at his bottom lip. “Well, it is not dissimilar to human physiology — but there are differences.”
“Of course.” Caleb nods, ever the eager student. “Longevity being a key one.”
“Well, yes, there is that, but—”
“And pointy ears,” Caleb blurts out.
Essek gives him a long, hard look, part reproach, part… something else. “Not just pointy,” he finally says. “They are… rather sensitive, as well.”

A moment passed in anticipatory silence before Jester nodded quickly, “He says he’s happy to be with his family again. He hopes it is fate. He wants to hear the whole story someday!”
“Well, he and his friends are welcome in Rexentrum any time, although I am not sure I’m their favorite person.” Caleb said, returning to his seat.
“Yeah, they weren’t huge fans of yours.” Beau smiled.
“There are rooms prepared here in the tower for each of you, in case you decided you would like to stay for a while.” Caleb said, gesturing around them.
“I have it on good authority that the Bright Queen intends to offer you a home in Roshonna as well.” Essek said with a sly smile. “You certainly have friends in high places.”
