Tank thought that their anger and reclusive tendencies would keep them from gaining friends, and for the most part they were right. At their new school, they were invisible, their reputation for picking fights with people twice their size having been left in Washington. They were still angry though, the bitterness boiling just below the surface, meaning that a fight was just around the corner.

Every muscle in their body tightens and contracts around their conjoined bone, stealing them. Some force inside of them was pleading to turn around. That feeling has become complicated lately. Either danger was truly present or it was some form of torture their brain cooked up to use against them in the most painful of ways. No one could make Elya as sick as they could make themselves with all the vile images and disjointed thought experiments it could cook up.
